Ever watch Restaurant Impossible? It's basically the same show, but with Robert Irvine and a stricter time limit. I think they have a deal or at least a Gentleman's agreement where Ramsey has the East and West coast and Irvine gets Middle America) Irvine is even tougher with the owners. There have been some fantastic moments on that show.
If you mean Ramsay, it's probably because... it's TV. Reality shows aren't exactly real, and Ramsay amps up his persona for the cameras, especially for American TV. If you ever see his BBC shows, you'll see a more authentic version of him.
I watch all these shows, basically because I have a 4 tuner Tivo and work from home, so there's always something going on in the back-ground.
I hate when they do the "Come back next year and I promise you a spot" bullshit on Masterchef. He said that to two people last year I remember, one of which was like the guy in a Boston fire house who did all the cooking, and he's not back this year (so far). I hate disingenuous shit like that.
Royce is making me laugh on HK this year because the dude's actually a sous chef for the season 1 runner up, so every time he fucks up he's getting shit on 10X over. Ramsay actually got his boss on the phone to call him out on his shittiness.
