‘24’ movie to begin filming in spring with Kiefer Sutherland reprising Jack Bauer role

'Wolverine' screenwriter Mark Bomback rumored to be attached to project

FOX
Kiefer Sutherland will be reprising his role as Jack Bauer when '24' comes to the big screen.

Nothing can stop Jack Bauer – not terrorists, and certainly not Hollywood development hell.
The long-delayed “24” movie is set to start filming in the spring, once star Kiefer Sutherland becomes available in April, Deadline.com reported.
Twentieth Century Fox has been eying a possible film franchise based on its television division hit since before the clock ran out on the show’s eighth and final season in 2010.
Director Tony Scott once hovered around the project but has since dropped out. Intelligence reports indicate that the movie — written by Billy Ray (“State of Play”), with some tweaks from “Wolverine’s” Mark Bomback — will have Bauer causing mayhem in Europe, and that it may deviate from the show’s trademark “real time” setup.
“It’s going to be a two-hour representation of a 24-hour day, so we were not going to be restrained by the real-time aspect of the TV show,” Sutherland told Britain’s Sky magazine last year. “With the TV show we always had to have the crisis come to us because we couldn’t move.”
The actor added: “Twice we put Jack on a plane and it was a disaster. This will be different — it will be very feasible to get from Eastern Europe to England in the course of 24 hours.”

That's going to be a long fucking movie.

Not real time, not in the US. How is this "24" other than the fact that we'll have Kiefer yelling "DAMN IT" every few minutes?

Or the classic go-to:

"WHERE IS MY FAMILY?!"
Let's not forget Jack being moments away from getting crucial information from a person in custody only to have someone kill the person in custody (either a sniper or the hostage that was just freed by Jack).

This movie is going to be garbage. I watched half of the first season of the show and got sick of it.

Then you sir bailed way too early on the series.
According to the short discussion about the awful cliches in the show, looks like I didn't. I understood everything about DeadMouse's references, which means the show probably just does the shit over and over and isn't worth watching.

You can nitpick the cliches with any show on television. Doesn't change fact that 24 had was one of the best shows on television. The drama during some of those seasons was great.

Cute but psycho, it all evens out.

This.

Like any other show there were cliches and weak seasons. Over all, it was a great show.

Definitely Stormrider. 24 is never going to be mistaken as a great show like The Wire or Breaking Bad, but it is loads of fun as an action show.

Talk about striking when the iron's cold! Will this be released the same year as the movies for Lost and The Sopranos?

So did I. Then, years later, started watching where I left off, and got into it for a while. The next few seasons, after the first one, were pretty good.

Even though it would've probably been better released a few years ago, I'll probably still check it out. I just hope they're not making it another 3-D thing!

It was still a fun to watch. I saw every episode.

For me its:

7-5-2-3-1-4-8-6*

*-I have only seen the first two episodes of that season.
You're lucky. That was the year they set off a fucking nuke in an LA suburb in hour 6, and had nearly forgotten about it by hour 12 because of the bullshit meandering plot.
