I saw the remake of 3:10 to Yuma today. I'm not a fan of remakes but seeing the cast of Bale and Crowe (who I think is a fantastic actor) made me curious. I have to say, I was impressed. Lately I've been on kind of an old-school (40s, 50s, 60s) Western kick because my On Demand has a shit load of them, and this is an old school Western. Awhile ago there was a thread about where actors like Robert Mitchum have gone and Bale/Crowe can easily carry that mantle. It's not some deep movie, it's mostly an Action Western but I definitely recommend it especially if you like those older Westerns.

Also, Ben Foster is such a great underrated young psychopath.

I'm really looking forward to seeing this film. and I fully agree that Bale and Crowe can carry on in the tradition of some of the greats. I know Crowe has had some bad press because of his anger issues but I don't see them as being contrived... he's an asshole at times sure but not an attention whore.... and Christian Bale is a real chameleon these days... I think we can expect more really good performances from him in the future.

Did i see a Horse explode at one point? if so that was worth the price of admission alone. but seriously it probably was the best of its kind since Tombstone.

I watched the original on Encore Westerns the other day. Great movie, and seemed pretty edgy for the 50s. Glenn Ford played the part of Ben Wade perfectly. I hope that the re-make can live up to the original.
