360-pros:
Better library of current generation games
Larger online userbase
Better online content
Cheaper

PS3-pros:
Reliable hardware
Free online play
Includes wireless ethernet and a card reader
Internet browser included

360-cons:
Buggy hardware
XBLA costs money unless you get the basic barebone service.
wireless ethernet costs extra

PS3-cons:
Expensive
smaller online userbase
smaller collection of current generation games

Exclusively

360: HALO 3, Gears of War, Mass Effect, Dead Rising, PGR and more either out or coming. Bioshock, Gears of War, and Lost Planet exclusively on the console front but either out or coming out for PCs.

PS3: Little Big Planet, Uncharted, Heavenly Sword, Ratchet & Clank, MGS4, Haze, and more either out or coming.

Fuck all of this. Build a monster PC and use that.
As far as games go, the only one you EVER need is Counter Strike: Source.

Bogey..... this could be your nicest, most un biased post i've seen regarding consoles.....

Just for that, I am going to buy a PS3..... when they drop below $250....

You did forget that Gran Turismo is coming for PS3

No it isn't, the search feature is actually not that good.

If there are two things I dislike about this site it's

1 - People bitching about search

2 - People linking the stupid daily listening threads as a source of info... I HATE the DLTs

You must get the 360 fanboy reader's digest of my posts then. It seemed to be such a problem I made an actual exchange into my signature.

Edit: I left out a few things in my rush to post. I also didn't include that all PS3's have an HDMI port, support lossless audio up to 24/192 and play blu-ray movies up to 1080/24p.

Do your own legwork - I can't get into this today. PS3 has power. 360 has Live. Other than that, figure it out for yourself.

Nah, I've read many of your posts, your a PS3 fan, not that there is anything wrong with it.

I've played both systems at friends, and I can honestly say that I don't think either one is worth the current price tags.

HDMI port, I will give you that as a plus to the PS3.

Lossless audio???? seriously..... who gives a flying fuck if their video game console can play lossless audio, unless it has access to torrent sites and the ability to burn CDs.....

And the Blue-Ray player also.... nobody asked what next gen DVD player to buy, ppl buy video game systems for video games.... period.. end of story...

I simply listed pros.

It's up to the original poster to weigh them.

FWIW... the PS3 plays SACDs and can sample the DSD into really high quality PCM.

So, if it's only about gameplay and if gameplay is more important than audio quality, graphics quality, and extra features, why not get an FC Twin? Seriously. It features the greatest controller ever (Super NES), a well-established library of games from SNES and NES and costs only $40 on ebay. Plus new games will cost you no more than $40 a piece.

Plus, online play with a console is strictly for faggoty, crackly-voiced, foul mouthed teenagers, in my experience.

Yea...I added the caveat that "all" PS3's have it. The huge majority of the 360 systems out there don't. But it's not incredibly difficult to get one with it.

Exactly. I had a fuckload of fun playing Yar's Revenge on Atari. Shitty graphics but I can play that game for a long time. If I buy a game system today, I want great gameplay as well as great graphics and audio.

It doesn't matter. The video hardware inside them is already obsolete. Three years from now, you'll be picking them up at a garage sale for 20 bucks, while the new consoles plug directly into your brain for the greatest display of all.

that goes with anything online. you just need to find the right people to play with. being in this community you have an advantage as you can coordinate online play here or on other messageboards. but to be honest i was literally 2 days away from picking up a PS3... being a PC gamer i was willing to try out the PS3 only because i could also use it as a bluray player. after seeing what the 360 could do i was blown away, coupled with its superior online capabilities and the fact that they have 10 times the game support tipped the edge to xbox for me. but one day i may still try out a PS3.... im a sap for old game systems that didnt make it. maybe in a few years i can complete my collection by getting a combo deal on ebay with the ps3 and 3DO.. :D

can't someone just find a link to the twenty other threads about this, and lock this one.

I'm not a search nazi right now, I'm on strike, so I can't find it

OOOF! Can I use that on the internet at large? Greatest comparison EVER

re: which console....360 is still the console of choice for 90% of the developers at the moment but once the PS3 picks up some momentum and more middleware for the devs to use becomes avaialble it'll come into its own. Sony simply has too much invested to let it die early.

so 360 for now but save some cash for a PS3 because in another 6 months some major titles will be hitting that will make it a must buy.

Does Elite come with wireless ethernet?

Also, I remember seeing somewhere how someone was able to get RSS feeds or whatever of podcasts and video podcasts from Revision3, and able to watch them on the Xbox. Is that easy to do, or is there some sort of hack involved?
