Bought a Sony Android TV last year...just a great, tremendous television. Great picture, the screen is bigly...truly a UI to die for. The screen is so crystal clear, you'll get tired of watching it. @MayrMeninoCrash mentioned Vizio. Vizio is just a disaster. An absolute disaster. Sad! I once had a Vizio and took it back to store...the screen was crooked. Don't ever buy Crooked Vizio. I know more about crooked Vizios than Best Buy associates. Believe me.

Looking on buying a 50+ 4k soon. Enough with a plasma from 8 years ago. Need it for gaming and vids. Any recommendations in the midrange?

I ended up getting a 55" Hisense 4k for $350. I didn't know anything about the brand other than it had good reviews and all the specs I wanted. Even if it only lasts a few years, I don't care at that price.

I ended up with an Element Amazon tv 55". This thing is awesome. I think I got it for a steal too, because I paid around $400 and the new model came out at $600.

Can you add apps to it other than those pre-installed? That's the only issue I have with mine. It came with 30 including the three main ones I need (netflix, prime, and youtube) but it would be nice to add others. I'll have to look for that in the next one I get.

Yup, you can add and sideload apps just like a Fire Stick

That was my mantra for years...

But, I had to replace two televisions when my stepson moved out because he took two with him. I now have both 70" and 43" 4K Vizio smart units. Price was right and I have no complaints. The 70" was on-sale at Sam's Club on Christmas Eve for $999, couldn't pass it up. I picked up the 43" a month later when I saw it on Slickdeals.

I need to upgrade my HTPC to support 4K and might upgrade to the new 4K stuff from DirecTV, depending on cost.

Even thought I didn't have any 4K sources, it just felt wrong not to buy a 4K TV. They were cheap enough that if I get 5 years out of them I'll be happy. I expect to get way more than that, however.
Because you know it's quality electronic equipment if you can buy it at the supermarket.

That's my guidance in regards to dog food. If it's available at the grocery store, my dog doesn't get it.

Back to TVs, Samsung, Panasonic, Sharp, Sony, and LG are all sold there too - so what's your point?

Looking to pick up a new TV this weekend and I'm currently torn between these 2:
http://www.microcenter.com/product/..._4K_Ultra_HD_HDR_LED_TV_w-_Roku_-_Refurbished
https://www.walmart.com/ip/Hisense-55-Class-4K-2160p-Ultra-HD-Smart-TV-with-HDR-55DU6500/881028033

$350 is the most I'd like to spend, since a PS4 pro will also be purchased shortly. If the HDR isn't amazing, that's fine. What would Jebus do?
I just bought a hisense that is a step above the one in the link. It has a better refresh rate which I hear is important especially for gaming. It was $350 and I love it so far.

On a TV, as long as it's 60HZ, it's cool for gaming. Ok so, Walmart special it probably is.
