Authorities today posted a $50,000 reward for information that leads to the identification, arrest and conviction of those involved in the fatal beating of 19-year-old Rowan University sophomore Donald Farrell during a robbery Saturday night.
Police have already released a sketch and a video image of a man they say punched Farrell twice in the head and kicked him once in the stomach after the student fell to the ground. The suspect is described as black male, between the ages of 20 and 24, with a medium complexion, rounded facial features, braided hair, a thin mustache and a light goatee. He is also about 5-feet 7-inches tall.
The video image was taken as the suspect purchased food minutes before he and four others approached Farrell to ask for directions to a party. The beating occurred around 9:15 p.m. Saturday behind a convenience store in Glassboro. Farrell, of Boonton Township, died Sunday of "trauma to the neck, resulting in laceration to the right vertebral artery," according to an autopsy.
