Amazon Affiliate Links

I am testing out some Amazon Affiliate links on the board. These will show to everyone, even people who donate. If I am understanding the program correctly, this is different than standard "banner ads" as it just gives the site a small portion of any item you would have purchased via Amazon anyway.

If anyone has any comments, questions, or suggestions, please post them in this thread!

Just testing this out again, only on a smaller scale.

There is a link to giftcards and the general Amazon link at the top, and one on the sidebar. Please let me know if you experience any issues with either of them, and if you're considering making a purchase at Amazon, please consider using those links!

As far as I know, not to me (just to Amazon, since you have to log in to complete a purchase there). I believe I only get aggregate data like "X number of iPhone Chargers Sold" and maybe some basic info that I already get from the board (browser info, OS info, IP info, etc.).

I have no interest in collecting actual identifiable info on any of the members of the board.

I see nothing at the top, and the box in the sidebar (above the online staff list) doesn't do anything.

But it'll be fun guessing who bought what :D

There are 3 banners under the oapedia/joe cumia/not sam banners. All the link does is insert an affiliate tracking link into the Amazon link, so any items purchased will be credited to me.

Here is the full/direct link:

Code:

FYI I get nothing under the Cumia links. The one on the left goes to an Amazon search box.

I got nothing on Chrome or Firefox.

Your direct link works, I guess. There's nothing on Amazon that says it's an affiliate link. The Wounded Warrior one says "Supporting: Wounded Warrior Project" under the search bar on every page. I don't know if that's how they all work.

The lack of images might be because the site is TLS-only (https), and the images being served from Amazon are from a non-TLS source. Most browsers will either not load them, or show a 'broken' https logo. I'm checking to see if they can serve https images and such.

As for the affiliate link - that's how it is supposed to work, i.e.: be totally transparent to the people who click on the link.

Umm...yeah, that's exactly what I was thinking.
