The average income for a mailman is $53k? That's far from rich, but considering the lack of education required to do the job you'd think they'd be happy to make that much and--oh, I don't know--NOT deliver mail to the wrong address all the time. I'd gladly drive to the post office and pick up my mail if it meant that the idiot who keeps putting other people's mail in my mailbox was out of work. I could understand it happening once or twice, but it's happened about 8 times in the year that I've lived in my house and most of the mail is for houses way down the street wtih numbers that could only be confused with mine if you are legally blind.
It's actually closer to $56k for a letter carrier and that doesn't include, paid holidays, 5 weeks vacation,
health benefits, sick time that accumulates for life, pension plan, TSP (like a 401k)......did I forget anything?
I work for the Postal Service (not a letter carrier) and will make over $65 this year,
plus benefits. All I need is 10 more years (5 years with an early out) and I can retire.
I'm surprised radio employee wasn't on that list. Then again, there are not that many left to cut.
You must be a financial wizard to make $65 dollars last a whole year. :icon_cool
The poor guy must be bad at his job. His co-workers are making 1,000X his salary. But hey, in this economy a job's a job, am I right?
Probably one of those handicapable positions.
This is why MORE government is just plain bad. At one time working in/for government meant a lower pay-scale but it came with better benefits to offset the lower income than similar private sector jobs. Now more and more in this terrible economy the gov jobs pay more and have more benefits in an organization that is beyond insolvent. FFS the post office advertises their flawed business model of shipping everywhere for the same low price. But I guess the salaries/pensions/benefits are more of the reason they are upside down.
Not meaning to be offense to you in your case as you may be more than qualified and worth what you are paid. I just know a few postal workers who probably couldnt get half their wage in the private sector for what they do or are actually worth.
It does bother me sometimes, but I just keep looking forward to all that vacation time I have coming.
I'm a mail carrier and most of my coworkers are fucking embarrassments. Work in my job for a week and you'll see what happens when unions and government get free reign.
How many miles a day is your route, and why are some carriers fucking pigs after all that walking? "whaa"
Walking? I don't think I've ever seen one on foot.
In Whitelandia, they have vehicles to bring them about. Then park them and walk the street. Jump into vehicle and move to another piece of the puzzle.
Some carriers are much faster then others on the same route.
I've lived in apartments for 15 years, but when I was still at my parent's house, all the houses for the block had their mail box in one place. The mail lady would never have to get out of the funny negative vehicle
Ah, poor people problems.
i'd figure magician's assistant would be first on that list
Lol. I had politician's teen mistress.
Buggy whip salesmen?
Whale oil lamp manufacturers?
