Great article on the growing wave of conservative comedians, focusing in part on O&A and friends of the show, and positing Tough Crowd as ground zero for the conservative comedy explosion.

Did this article delve into the heart of the great political debate of moving a studio wall or bus trip to Yakov's Dinner Adventure?

So is it knee-jerk liberalism if you look at that wall of text and say, "I ain't readin' all that?"

But that's a good thing. I can think of nothing worse than a conservative comedian who only jokes about politics from a conservative angle. Yawn.

Apart from the term 'shock jock' it was pretty spot on and actually praised O&A and tough crowd. My on scruple is that I wouldn't say 'truthers' are conservative or leftist.

Definitely bias, but a very good article.

Then you'd be a goof. You can't get more left wingnut than a truther.

For the love of Odin, give it a rest.

It is pointing to what the GOP leadership seems to be realizing. "Conservatism" doesn't need to be Bible thumping culture warriors campaigning for Jesus. If anything Anthony and Corolla (from the article...don't listen to his show) have more in common with the conservatives of yesteryear like Goldwater and Buckley. I mean Buckley was for legalizing pot. Didn't mean he wanted to smoke it. Just he thought it was useless government intervention. Just because it may be a "moral" cause, doesn't mean it is the government's place to make it happen.

Most Conservatives love their echo chambers - See Limbaugh, Hannity, Beck.

They aren't comedians, and please let's not compare echo chambers.

Are you sure? Limbaugh cracks me up every time he opens his fat yap.

And let's compare echo chambers.....which liberal talk show host gets the highest ratings? Now how many listeners does Rush have? Exactly.

You're comparing Limbaugh and Glenn Beck to O&A and Corolla?

No I'm trying to make heads or tails out of your comment that liberal radio echo chambers are larger than conservative radio echo chambers.

As I thought, no, Neon never said that. You are the only one who specified radio.

    I'll type slowly for you:

Notice the highlighted parts. My post was referring to conservative COMEDY. I would not go to a comedy club to watch someone do an hour of "conservative comedy." The closest I could think of is someone like DiPaolo, but he is entertaining because he is so vicious. In my mind a "conservative comedian" would never be dirty, and that's the point of this article - it's about a new breed of conservative comedy that doesn't conform to that image in my head, or even something like Larry the Cable Guy or Foxworthy. Intelligent, dirty, non-PC comedy with a more right-wing sensibility.

Your post says "most conservatives" and goes on to cite three pundits who are not comedians (all three joke around occasionally but please don't seriously argue that they fit in the same mold as something like O&A or Corolla), so I naturally extended my response to you to other things as well. In fact, my response is even more on topic than yours because of the various comedy on TV and film and the fact that it is largely liberal. How many people watch the conservative equivalent of The Daily Show, Mr. "let's compare dick sizes"?

I agree with the whole thing but with that part the most. These people have lost touch with reality, and it shows in how much they think of themselves.

They still think they are going after hard targets, like dead Margaret Thatcher. Oooh. That's cutting.

I'd love to see a book based on all the personalities mentioned (including Dennis Miller..not sure if he got a mention).Southpark conservatives 2...the comedians.
