Why did you have to post this story? I was specifically avoiding talking about this.
Fuck. Tl;dr: His family knew all about it, and he had full legal representation. He was kept under an assumed name, presumably to protect other agents in the field (if it became known he was Mossad, then people in the field who were associated with him would be in danger). Why he was in prison I don't know, and the fact that he managed to commit suicide is problematic, but that's about it. Some people are trying to make a big deal about this. The Australian TV show tried to speak to his parents, but they refused, and obviously know what happened.
Nothing to see here, move along.

Addendum: It came out today that keeping him under an assumed name was done with his consent, and in fact by his request. It was apparently also meant to protect him, not just state secrets. As usual, these stories turn out to be vapor.
