Go S8. Aside from Samsung's shitty customer service and shady practices with regard to their Gear VR promotions, the phone itself truly is a work of art. It's the most comfortable, smoothest, most beautifully designed piece of tech I've ever held in my hand.

I'm loving my Pixel XL, has been without issue in the three months or so that I've had it. It has all the features you gotta have and looks pretty doing it (the screen, the phone itself is kind of a mish mash).

Otherwise, from experience I too can vouch for Samsung products. They are the top of the line and have features you never even thought of. The only disadvantage is all the bloatware they come with that can't be removed.

So after battling it out with Samsung's promotions department for a combined six hours of on hold, I finally got my Gear VR approved. Holy balls, what a battle.

Actually, as far as the bloatware, the games can be removed with no issue. The Samsung specific & carrier specific stuff, not so much. Still, surprisingly lean, bloat-wise, this time around.

Phone I've got now is a Note 4. What's the skinny on the latest Note? Can't even get a Note right now, right? Might get a new plan and shit.

If you need the extra .2 inches of screen vs. the Galaxy S8 plus, and a stylus, and consider $1000 a good price for that, get the Note 8. Otherwise, spend the $700 on the S8 plus.

My wife's Nexus 5x shit the bed the other day. She ran into the notorious boot loop issue that's been plaguing many 5x owners for a while now. On Reddit there is a thread specifically for this issue and in Korea they actually are recalling the phone. Fortunately they rma'd her phone but from what I gather it has happened to people more than once so this phone is still a potential piece of garbage. I have the same phone that we purchased together so I'm now waiting for my big day.

Sadly, I have left the Android family for now. We needed new phones
and verizon is just being assholes. We switched to Sprint and I got
a better plan at a lower price and they gave us a 2 for 1 deal on the
ifag7. It's alright and since I sync'd it using my google account all my
contacts, calendars and such flipped right over. I hated to do it but the
better plan at about 50 bucks a month cheaper sealed the deal.

I signed up for Ting on a recommendation from Aero. We love the service, and cost. With 3 phones we average around 100 dollars a month. The only thing we have to be cautious of is data. I don't stream unless I'm on wifi so everything I listen to in the car goes on USB stick.

Don't have to worry about data now. They give me unlimited
talk, text, data and we can use the phones to create wifi hotspots
for up to 10 gigs of data a month.

Yeah, their plans really are great, I just couldn't justify the cost for the phones. They keep trying to lure me back to Sprint but it's not cheaper. No reason to go back.

Well they're cheaper than Verizon for now. I'd like to see them
add more phones to the Google Fi project. My kid is using that
and he's happy with it but it's limited in phones now and would have
cost me more since the we don't have the phones to use it.

Note 8 isn't due out till later in the 3rd or 4th quarter, no?

May just stick with my shifty note 4. Phones are ridiculous expensive up here. Plans, actual tech, all of it. For none reason.

I replaced my wonky Note 4 with the S8 plus. Best decision I ever made. The thing is an absolute BEAST, and battery life is insane. I go a full day on half the battery with moderate to heavy usage.

Aside from the battery being just half dead, the micro usb connector was getting weird. It wouldn't always connect, had to reseat the cable sometimes to get it to recognize. Also, just overall slowness, even after resetting the phone to factory default. I wonder if VZW didn't send a patch to fuck it up to force us old phone guys into an upgrade.

My keyboard is goofy. I'll type 'work' and it'll come up as 'eorl'. Fucking thing has Autism/Dyslexia.

A reset of the phone might take care of that

The autocorrect on my Pixel XL is my one major gripe. That thing is atrocious. It will change correctly spelled, obvious words with nonsense. I should just download Swiftkey again and be done with it.

I want to get the HTC U11 but I would have to fully buy it before activating it. That sucks
