Anything else they made that's worth checking out?

    Watched a couple shows.

Yuru Camp - My enjoyment of survival shows and nature has got the best of me yet again. I'm enjoying it.

kemono friends ......stop laughing at me!

    Kemono Friends is uber popular.

    And from KyoAni:

    Sound! Euphonium (phenomenal character drama)

Hyouka (really clever mystery show that's actually a school/SOL)

Amagi Brilliant Park (surprisingly raunchy/edgy comedy show with a bizarre premise)

Clannad/Clannad After Story (drama that will tear your heart out and step on it repeatedly)

Haruhi Suzumiya (the show isn't terrific but the movie is and you need to watch the show to enjoy it)

Full Metal Panic: The Second Raid (best season of FMP. Season 4 coming this year but not from KyoAni).

That's about it. Not a huge fan of their other shows although some have great moments and great animation (like Beyond the Boundary)

I watched it because tons of people were adding it to their "best of 2017" lists.

People would say something along the lines of "I didn't want to like it but...".

Masaaki Yuasa is director. So I can only assume good things.

Yeah tonight. I'm watching Land of the Lustrous and penciled in to watch Darling in the FranXX tonight but I'll check that out too. You should check out Violet Evergarden, I think. I was really intrigued by the first episode.

Devil Man ep 1 - I can't approve of this violence. Also, they worked in a mermaid reference. Well played.

Pop Team Epic is actually more retarded in its second episode. Most impressive.

More on Devil Man - Not since Mind Game have I seen Yuasa just go nuts with crazy shit like this.

He must be having the time of his god damn life. That makes me happy.

Darling in the FranXX is great. That Trigger style mixed with Shigeto Koyama's epic mecha design style (same guy who did Eureka Seven, Star Driver, a bunch of stuff for Kill la Kill, and more).

Yuru Camps theme is like a 80s TV theme song.

Watched the first FranXX episode. It was quite good, but I couldn't help feel like it was a mesh of it's influences more than a thing of its own. Time will tell.

I don't disagree but like you I am hoping it'll break out on its own. I have faith in Trigger's tendency to take it to 11.

The problem is them taking it to 11 has been a bad thing. They walked the line with the fan service this episode but pulled it back at the last minute. But it's Trigger. Wait until it turns out she's a succubus or something.

I meant taking it to 11 more in the sense of TTGL.

    Finished Devil Man.

I would say it was great if the ending was a bit better. The way they finished it made it feel a bit pointless, which is a common complaint I have with some animes. They get into murder porn mode and forget to tell a compelling story.

Even with all the new stuff lately. Nothing from 2017/2018 so far has swayed me from liking Mahoutsukai no Yome the best.

Its not the first time I've seen an anime go with this sort of ending when they weren't sure how to end things.

Texhnolyze comes to mind. Only it was like watching hope die while being beat to death with a lead pipe.

Its almost a Ragnarok-like ending. Where the world is destroyed only to be reborn, but Satan will be reborn and it will happen all over again. Makes it seem pointless.

No, I totally agree with you. It started off really well but the whole thing took a turn toward shit once demons were made public.
