Anyone shopping for a generator?

I like that it has the option for different types of fuel.

Right now, IMO the best bang for your buck is the Predator model that is exclusively sold by Harbor Freight. It competes directly with the Honda and is thousands less.

I used to have a Harbor Freight generator. I ended up giving it to my father because he was using it because his power was out for like five days due to hurricane Sandy.

I think I posted about it. I got a Black Friday deal on eBay on a similar generator. It's like this one, but dual-fuel and I got it for $500.

I bought one at Costco for $799, propaine/gasoline 9000w, a “champion” I worked on a harbor freight generator last year that was dumping So much fuel it filled the crank case with gasoline. I’m of the thought, that unless you’re a mechanic or highly mechanically inclined, don’t buy anything from harbor freight that takes gasoline. There is a reason the honda is thousands of dollars more, and it’s not just because it says “honda” on the side.
I’m waiting on a transferswitch to get installed in my garage so I can use it to power my shit pump

This is on sale again. Apparently a 12,000 watt one goes on sale sometimes and I think I'm going to have to buy that. What do you guys think?

Seems like a great deal or too good to be true at $500 with free shipping (how the fuck is somebody making money on that???). Looks like it's going to be junk Chinese though, maybe it works great for a while or as a backup for a preexisting brand name generator. Might be good for intermittent use, I'd be hesitant to buy it to run all day or make money with. Looks like a Harbor Freight item, at least with places like Northern Tool, there are quality brands to be found.

Mine works great. I've used it for one power outage. I start it once a month, put it under load and let it run for about 20 minutes. Then I turn off the fuel valve and run it dry.

Can't beat it for 500 smackers, IMO.

I have a “champion” similar to that, most of them are Chinese junk if your mechanical they aren’t to hard to work on, but, I always suggest using propane if you cannso you don’t have fuel to worry about

Another thing is they have "Chonda" engines which are Chinese clones of the Honda GX engines. Parts are interchangeable. My father left gas in my old HF one and ruined the carb. I got an aftermarket Honda one on eBay that bolted right up.
