Are we officially in a cold civil war?

I think it’s important to remember that civil unrest is not civil war. And again, in spite of a couple shootings that I would label more coincidental than escalation, the civil unrest is being expressed more on the Internet than anywhere else. We are still nowhere near the level of violent protests or riots as what this country experienced in the 60’s, and nobody asked if we were in a civil war back then.

The very question is part of the hyperbole and propaganda war being waged in the media and on the internet. I do find this week’s Tucker Carlson scandal to be an interesting propaganda battle. If he is forced out, that’s a major win in the Media civil war.
The 60's may have been worse but they had a reason to fight. Having a reason to fight means an eventual resolution and an ending.

Today, there's no reason to fight. No reason means no ending.

The internet and media will make sure this has no ending. Eventually the majority would get sick (and probably already is) of the fighting between the fanatical fringe edges of society, but the internet and media will push this fight indefinitely. It makes it so a middle of the road path is no longer an option.

I don't think there's any way to recover from this, at least in the near future, without one side "winning", which will almost definitely result in a significant change to our society (including some type of oppression of the other side).

It's the blood in the streets that everyone around here is so hungry for. Whose blood doesn't matter, but blood.

I'll give an example. The Democratic Socialists of America membership in 2016 was 6,000. Today it is 60,000. I realize 60k is nothing but the growth rate is pretty disturbing.
Serious question: do you have any numbers (real numbers, not biased numbers) on people aligning with white nationalists?

I think you meant to write "white supremacists". This whole white nationalists shit that the media is pushing is really pissing me off. It's trying to conflate white supremacists and nationalists, so that in the end, anyone who doesn't support open borders and a rainbow shitting unicorn Utopian world government is a bad KKK-type person.

However, if we're going with "White Nationalist"... I'm white, and I firmly believe we should put our country ahead of other countries. So, by definition, I'm a "White Nationalist".... so, +1

Didn’t the tee vee give you facts to back up their argument? Seems like if this new outrage was legitimate it’d be pretty easy to find evidence.

Radical right is 6% of population. Radical left is 8%.

Is that what you are looking for?

Asked for more specific data, an FBI spokeswoman clarified after Wray’s testimony that the bureau has recorded about 90 domestic terrorism arrests, compared with about 100 international terrorism arrests.

The official also said that when Wray asserted a “majority of the domestic terrorism cases we’ve investigated are motivated by some version of what you might call white supremacist violence,” he meant only that a majority of the domestic terrorism cases involving a racial motive were believed to be spurred by white supremacy.

At a congressional hearing in May, the head of the FBI’s counterterrorism division testified that the bureau was investigating 850 domestic terrorism cases and that of those, about 40 percent involved racially motivated violent extremists. Most in that group, he said, were white supremacists.

Background
Groups listed in a variety of other categories — Ku Klux Klan, neo-Confederate, neo-Nazi, racist skinhead and Christian Identity — can also be fairly described as "white nationalist." Although, as organizational loyalty has dwindled and the internet has become white nationalism’s organizing principle, the ideology is best understood as a loose coalition of social networks orbiting online propaganda hubs and forums.

Using the words "many" and "most" instead of numbers makes me suspicious.

The article says extremists killed 17 people last year and 8 people the year before. And that is all extremists not just those on the right. In other words, what you posted is statistically irrelevant.

Umm yeah because an FBI Director is going to go into detail on terrorism cases in a open hearing.. :haha7:

You honor, I maybe just a simple hyper chicken from a backwoods astroid, but isn't the purpose of an open hearing to be open with details?

"Most" of 40% of domestic terrorist arrests. In other words, a minority of the arrests.

So I'm not a lawyer but tell me that this is bullshit. I know it's in meme form, but it seems like the threshold for "inciting" should rise above an inanimate object

attempted murder? now honestly, what is that?

"Most in that group were white supremacists"

850 x .40= 340

So "most of" the 340 people arrested in Fiscal 2019 are white supremacists.

Not 340 people. "Most of". So between 171-200 people?

It's fucking simple. The first person to infringe on another's rights is at fault. Free speech is protected, violence is not. So punching someone for what they say is wrong. If the nazi acted on their beliefs through violence or oppression of someone else's rights, they'd be in the wrong.

The logic used in that could be extended to the Democratic party who decided imprisoning and dropping bombs on Japanese and wearing hoods and lynching blacks was effective policy.

And if Antifa was considered a terrorist group then I'm sure left domestic terrorism arrests would outnumber the right.

If they are trying to prove white supremacy is an escalating issue, they are doing a horrendous job.
