lolol...fuck you Port Authority...how about getting rid of ALL your useless toll takers and those redundant jobs? How about that? Go fuck yourselves.

http://www.nydailynews.com/ny_local...nnels_gw_bridge_hudson_river_crossings_p.html

The cost of entering Manhattan via the Hudson River crossings would hit a staggering $15 for cash-paying customers this September under a Port Authority proposal.

Commuters using EZPass at the Holland Tunnel, Lincoln Tunnel and George Washington Bridge would pay $12 per trip - and that would increase to $14 in 2014, the bi-state agency announced Friday.

The current toll is $8.

MOLLOY: NEW INCREASES PUNISH COMMUTERS FOR JUST GOING TO WORK

The proposed increases would also affect the three spans between New Jersey and Staten Island: the Goethals, Outerbridge and Bayonne bridges.

Kate Slevin, executive director of the Tri-State Transportation Campaign, said the huge hikes were no surprise.

"Instead of finding new and steady revenue streams to pay for growing transportation needs in each state, both governors want to use the Port Authority as a piggy bank," she said.

"New Jersey has its hand in the Port Authority's right pocket, and New York is ready to take from its left."

A source told the Daily News that both New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo and New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie had signed off on the toll hikes.

Neither governor's office immediately returned messages for comment.

Riders on the PATH train can also expect increases under the Port Authority plan.

The base fare on the New Jersey-Manhattan trains will jump from $1.75 to $2.75, with the average discounted fare increasing from $1.30 to $2. The unlimited monthly pass will jump from $54 to $89.

It's the first boost since March 2008, when the tolls were bumped to $8 on the PA's half-dozen bridges and tunnels. The $2 hike back then was a 33% increase - a bargain compared with the current proposed hike.

The PA Board of Commmissioners will hold an Aug. 19 vote on the proposals after a series of nine public hearings.

The Port Authority, in a press release, said the unprecedented hikes were the result of the recession; the $11 billion price tag for rebuilding the World Trade Center site; and $6 billion in increased security costs since the 9/11 attacks.

Dude... the money they pay the toll takers is a drop in the bucket... a fricken crumb compared to the toll money they're raking in. The tolls are a cash cow and they're only going to keep going up. Even if they shave a few bucks by getting rid of the money-taking monkeys, the savings will never be passed on to the EZPass victims. There are a hell of a lot less money-taker monkeys now than there were 15 years ago, and exactly how much of that savings was passed on?

This. Plus, don't forget that all the midwestern sea cows that drive in just to see a show or two probably don't have an EZ-pass mounted to their windshield hence the need for the toll monkeys.

Wasn't the Lincoln Tunnel supposed to be a FREE tunnel after it was paid off?

Another drop in the bucket. Check out the license plates of the cars backed up in the cash lanes... I'll guarantee you over 90% of them are NY/NJ/PA license plates... and half of them will be savage cabdrivers.

Am i crazy thinking there would be a lot less traffic if it was all EZPass tolls? Probably not since no one likes to alternate when funneling into the tube...especially the asshole fucking bus drivers who just form a chain not letting anyone in.

There are just too many people who want to pay cash... savages who don't have bank accounts, tinfoil hatters who don't want the guv'mint tracking their movements, out-of-staters, old geezers who are frightened and confused by modern electronical doohickeys, plain ol' dunces like Rich Vos, etc...

The Port Authority is not NOT going to take their money... cash is like crack to them. If there's a way to get it, they're going to take it... your commute time be damned.

Even the Light Rail in Bayonne is overpriced. Why cant they put in turnstiles instead of hiring all these people to police the trains. They dont police every train, so they dont catch every toll evader. Turnstiles with cameras would be cheaper and more efficient. And if some poor person jumps the turnstile, who really gives a fuck? Im sick of paying for the 4 cop teams that hang out at the train stations asking for tickets. They should be chasing murderers & rapos not checking the time on your train ticket.

Here's my favorite from back in the days when I used to have to run the EZPass rat race... the car in front of you in the EZPass lane gets a red light and the barrier bar stays down... 10 minutes of beeping and honking and being trapped like a rat later... a morbidly obese sheboon, dressed in a bursting-at-the-seams polyester Port Authority uniform, comes waddling out of her booth... enraged that her doughnut gluttony ritual has been interrupted, she is bristling with negrotude and moving at a glacial pace. Lardella finally manages to make it over to the trapped motorist lane, snatches the EZPass out of the hand of the first driver with bare hate and contempt, she proceeds to poke at a keyboard with bloated ebony fingers tipped with elaborately lacquered and decorated scythes for the next five minutes. Eventually the light turns green, the barrier lifts... and... wait for it... wait for it... and eventually a bloated black arm like a Hefty trash bag filled with tapioca pudding slooooowly extends out and hands back the pass. And you're free to carry on with your life.

Fucking. Enraging.

haha...excellent creative writing, sir.

The worst is when the EZPass lane is slow coming around the helix to the Lincoln and the assholes in the faster middle non-expass lane think they'll turn in at the last minute before it splits off by cones. I let no one in. Of course if I do it, its perfectly fine cuz I deserve it :)
