I thought Jim Edmonds retired.
Yes its amazing. To be best save ever it has to happen with a 1 goal lead with 1min to go in game 7 of stanely cup finals because if he didn't try for it the shot would of went wide
Most athletic save by a goalie ever?
I think a high percentage of goalies deflect that in off their back, as the first instinct would be to try to move back towards the shot.
Ill go with that. The only reason I said it had meet that criteria is purely because if he didnt go behind the back the shot would of went wide. so it wasnt going in if he didnt try or missed unless he fucked up and slapped it in off his glove.
Ehhh I dunno about that. Most would try for the blocker or arm save. That would be my move if its me. its the higher percentage save vs going behind the back with the glove.
Great save for sure, but I like this one...
Meh, we used to catch the ball behind our back in BP in high school all the time.
Pretty sweet save though...
I do believe that save was dubbed "The Scorpion"
That was all luck and quite possibly the worst play he could have made. I hope he got a tripping penalty.
As for the original post, I don't know if I would say it was the best save ever. It was a very impressive save, but as it was pointed out earlier, it may have gone wide if unimpeded and technically isn't a save. For argument's sake, let's say it wouldn't have gone wide, he was out of position. The didn't come off of some rebound or a crazy pass play, it was a fairly routine couple passes to the backdoor that he was out of position for. The puck shouldn't have been behind him in the first place.
Absolutely, pretty much, and no he didnt. It was in the ECF so you know they werent gonna call that
