Misleading thread title or not? Did anyone else notice that when Big A sang "Hey Delilah" he did not stutter once. Sounded like a normal person Except for the fact that he was completely tone deaf and off key.

I wonder how he'd do with a song like "St-st-st-aying Alive"

I have a friend who stutters ... except when he's singing or when he's really angry about something, which is surprising. A bunch of us had gone out to lunch once and he was ranting and raving about this divorce case he was hearing (he's a court attorney referee...similar to a judge but they're not elected). Not once did he stutter.

Maybe the key is that Big A has to sing everything?

That's not far from the truth. When we speak we use a different part of the brain as we do when we sing. Therefore, most stutterers can avoid stuttering if they sing-song their words. Weird, huh?

Singing and speaking use different parts of the brain.

I find it amazing that, in my friend's case, he doesn't stutter when he's angry. That's usually when stuttering gets worse, isn't it?

I stutter. Some days I'm really bad, and some days I'm not that bad. I've been really bad since yesterday, because my grandmother died yesterday, and I've been going through all these emotions. My cousin and my brother were just over here, so that made me feel good. Anyway, back to the topic......................

I don't stutter when I sing either. Everyone keeps telling me to enter karaoke contests n shit like that. This girl I know said she'd do Paradise by the Dashboard Light with me. No bars around me have karaoke, though.

Ozzy does Karaoke, check for the big speakerbox in front of the stage when you see him perform. If he splashes water as normal or something distorts the monitor he'll start mumbling until the guy wipes off the screen so Ozzy can see clearly. Then Ozzy will sing clearly by what he is seeing on the karaoke monitor.

oh and IN

I've talked to Big A plenty of times. While he does stutter, he seems
to do it less when there's less pressure on him. They intentionally
write news stories for him to fuck up on and I guess the pressure
to read them on the show makes him stutter more.
In normal conversation he really does it alot less.

And nobody's "IN" so GFY's. :p

Totally accurate sir! I have talked to Big A, and when there is no pressure, he is fine. We chat a lot on PT, he truly is a nice guy.

He told me about the clip last night, I have not heard it yet though.

since I'm not IN I do have a question.
When you guys read a Big A post, do you hear your mind's voice or do you use Big A's voice when reading the post? And does your mind stutter when reading?

If Big A tried to respond to interview questions while singing would be a good idea.

Sorry to hear about that one. My stepmom passed in August at only 60. :mad4: (Still got my mom and dad though). Anyway, back to the topic...............

Jimmy- Now you sound like li'l Anthony not picking up on signals that a girl is interested in you. Sounds like she wants to go to paradise by the dashboard light in your car. Wink-wind. Nudge-nudge. Or maybe download one of those karaoke programs for the computer and invite her over damn it!

" I'm Still Standing"
would be a good one

If I was Big A *shudder* I'd just walk around singing anything I wanted to say. Why not? Because I'd sound silly? Any sillier than the way I talk?

Actually, I don't really think she's nterested in me. Plus, she dated two of my best friends. I grew up with her, and I've known her for a long time. She's just a friend.

Fair enough. I'm here, you're there, but let me ask you this:
Would YOU want to take this relationship to the next level?

Sounds like he does better when he sings a faster song.

I also did a little of that googling and found that Aristotle used to put pebbles in his mouth to help him with his stutter when he spoke. I wonder if it actually works. Maybe they could try that out in studio but instead of pebbles they could use skittles or whatever else they might be able to get out of Sam's head.
