Picked up a new Roku Ultra from Walmart, $48. Got a sound bar for $29, couple of 32 gb flash drives for $5 each. Boring shit.

What kind of savage goes to the store when the internet exists?
Wife needed some other shit at that time, and Wally world was open. Besides, saved $2 off the price of buying the Roku on Amazon.

Yeah, I really didn't want to go to Walmart either. Honestly though, the retards there weren't nearly as retarded as I expected, and I was in and out of there fairly quickly. Less than an hour, probably more like 40-45 minutes.

Google Pixel Stand for $39 from Best Buy. Normally $79. Old Qi charger doesn't like the Pixel 3 XL...

Armalite M15 for $798 out the door. Free Rossi .22 rifle and 12 Gauge pump shotgun at my local gun store.

I never do Black Friday but couldn’t pass this up.

Pickup is in two weeks though, boo.

Mojo can't come to the Frankofest because he's too busy running around playing errand boy when the boss lady cracks the whip.

I see how it is.

I already have one, but bought three more from Amazon. I'm hoping this will help my efforts to drop/downgrade my DirecTV subscription. I'm trying out my cable provider's streaming app. I like it, even though it won't run on my nVidida Shield for some reason.

I am going to see if I can get my wife and mother-in-law to use the streaming app. At the very least, I'll reduce the number of boxes I have and just have Rokus on the other TVs.

It's funny how when I first got into Roku's I never thought I'd need more than one, just for the specialty shit that cable couldn't provide. Now, cable is kicked to the curb & I have a roku on every TV in the house, and will probably get more in the weeks & months to come.

Little fuckers sure know how to suck you in to their ecosystem.

I'm a rookie Roku fanboy - their OS is built into my new TV. It can play 4K MKVs that my PC struggles with. There's a ton of free movies and shows. The iPad Roku app can play TV audio on the iPad. The Roku player on the TV is a DLNA client, so if I leave Kodi running on my PC, I can direct play anything in Kodi's library.

The whole TV was cheaper than upgrading my video card. Roku is the shit. I'm still discovering stuff it can do.

I bought my wife a TCL Roku TV back on Prime Day for her home office. It works great. I have my Roku in my home office. The three I bought yesterday are going on the other TVs. I'll have five TVs with Roku functionality.

The Arlo security cameras they had on sale that I needed to add to my existing set were only on sale in the store. It was too good a deal to pass up.

I don’t know if it was a Black Friday sale or not but I picked up a set of Bose Quiet Comfort wireless noise canceling headphones for $50 off at Best Buy. They are nice. They’re a welcome addition to what my wife calls my “arsenal of ignorage” on family road trips.

Get a NAS with a multi-drive RAID configuration. It's worth whatever it costs.

Relying on a single drive will end badly. Ask me how I know.

I've got a Fire stick, Fire TV and Fire TV cube. They're good in their way, but I love the ease of the Roku.

I do love how I can sideload onto my Fires though.

It's a method where you put multiple hard disks in an enclosure, and it creates something called a RAID. With a RAID, if one of your disks goes bad, the rest of them can be used to recreate the original file structure, and you don't lose your stuff.

It's not cheap, but if you have the cash and your stuff is important enough to you, it's a good investment. There are other backup/recovery systems out there, but this is the smartest for home users. Least hardware intensive as well. (Aside from cloud storage/backup, of course. Is Carbonite even a thing anymore?)

I should clarify. EDIT:

NAS is network attached storage. It's a device the hard drives sit in, that gives the drives a network presence. The device is addressable like any drive, local or network.

The RAID is just a happy bonus of most NAS devices. But I'm fairly sure that was what @Sinn Fein was suggesting when he said the NAS was the way to go over standalone external HDD's.
