CULVER CITY, Calif., July 11, 2013 – Producers Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli, EON Productions; Gary Barber, Chairman & CEO, Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer; Michael Lynton, CEO, Sony Entertainment, Inc, and Amy Pascal, Co-Chairman of Sony Pictures Entertainment today announced that Daniel Craig will once again return as the legendary British secret agent in the 24th James Bond film and Sam Mendes will also return to direct the screenplay written by John Logan. The film is set for release in UK theaters on October 23, 2015 and in US theaters on November 6, 2015.

SKYFALL™, the 23rd James Bond film, took in $1.1 billion worldwide and set a new mark as the highest-grossing film of all time in the UK; it was the best-selling Bond film on DVD/Blu-ray and was the most critically acclaimed film in the history of the longest-running film franchise.

Commenting on the announcement, Wilson and Broccoli said, “Following the extraordinary success of SKYFALL, we’re really excited to be working once again with Daniel Craig, Sam Mendes and John Logan.”

“I am very pleased that by giving me the time I need to honour all my theatre commitments, the producers have made it possible for me to direct Bond 24. I very much look forward to taking up the reins again, and to working with Daniel Craig, Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli for a second time,” said Mendes.

Barber added, “We are thrilled to reunite the extraordinary talents of director Sam Mendes with our star Daniel Craig for the next great Bond adventure.” He added, “As evidenced by the phenomenal success of our last collaboration with EON Productions and Sony, the incredible legacy of this 51-year-old franchise continues to amaze.”

Lynton and Pascal said, “It’s a privilege to work on the Bond films. EON, John Logan and Sam Mendes have come up with an extraordinary follow up to SKYFALL and we, along with our partners at MGM, can’t wait to share this new chapter with audiences all over the world.”

This is obviously great news for those of us who enjoyed SKYFALL (I am one of those) and we now have a release date to look forward to. There is still no confirmation yet on those Penelope Cruz rumors or a title so stay tuned.

Léa Seydoux Is Your New Bond Girl
October 10, 2014 / bond, bond 24, casting, lea seydoux, movie, news

Marrying her passions for spycraft and the dignified Ralph Fiennes, Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol and The Grand Budapest Hotel's Léa Seydoux is joining the Bond franchise. According to The Daily Mail, the Blue Is the Warmest Color actress has been cast as "the femme fatale" in the still-untitled 24th adventure of James Bond. It's said she'll meet with her fellow cast members in November for rehearsals, where we'll see if Daniel Craig accepts this new offering of flesh.

She is so fucking sexy

I did enjoy seeing her eat that chick's ass in BLUE IS THE WARMEST COLOUR, but she still looks like a high-schooler to me.

I was hoping that my girl Ingrid Bolso Berdal would be the next Bond girl. She was one of the names in the mix. She's Norwegian, blonde, gorgeous and a brilliant actress.

She made her name in the great slasher film COLD PREY and its sequel, and she was also the best thing about Ratner's HERCULES flop. But she's also in her mid-thirties, which I'm sure disqualified her.

Next Great BOND Henchman To Be GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY's Dave Bautista

Latino-Review's scooper supreme, El Mayimbe, is reporting that director Sam Mendes has chosen Guardians of the Galaxy star Dave Bautista to be a henchman in the next James Bond film.

"Nothing goes over my head! My reflexes are too fast. I would catch it."
Over the decades, James Bond films have produced some iconic henchmen: 'Nick Nack' (Hervé Villechaize) from The Man with the Golden Gun (1974), 'Jaws' (Richard Kiel) from The Spy Who Loved Me and Moonraker, as well as 'Oddjob' (Harold Sakata) from Goldfinger. Director Sam Mendes ("Skyfall") is looking to create his own iconic henchman for Bond 24. According to Latino-Review's El Mayimbe, that henchman will be played by former WWE wrestler Dave Bautista. You know him as 'Drax' from Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy. This will be the same role that were learned about in August when a casting call leaked for a character named, 'Hinx.'
Hinx (Male, 30 – 45) - Ideally over 6′ 2″. Hinx is the main henchman/assassin. We are looking for an imposing extremely physically fit actor. He has several fights with Bond and will have to have stunt training. He has to drive. We are looking for someone very unusual, possibly from a sports background.

NO, MR. BOND, CHRISTOPH WALTZ EXPECTS YOU TO DIE IN THE NEXT FILM

The 24th movie in the Bond franchise will begin shooting in just a few weeks but little is actually known about it. While a few casting rumors have slipped out of the last few months, tonight’s news about the film’s main villain should have your curiosity and your attention. It is being reported that Inglorious Basterd and Django Unchained star Christoph Waltz will be the next baddie to go up against the super spy with a license to kill.

Daily Mail reporter Baz Bamigboye, who has been spot on with James Bond news in the past, Tweeted that Waltzhad already signed on to play Bond 24‘s villain. With filming starting in just a few weeks, we can expect a big press release and announcement about the cast and what will be happening this time around pretty soon. So this is one of the few unconfirmed pieces of news we won’t have to wait long to see if it’s true or not. With Bamigboye’s record and the fact Waltz dropped out of Pirates of the Caribbean 5 recently seems to suggest this is all legit. We do know that Daniel Craig will return as James Bond with Ben Whishaw, Naomie Harris, and Ralph Fiennes reprising their Skyfall roles as well. Dave Batista is rumored to be playing the main henchman with Lea Seydoux being the next Bond girl. These aren’t as solid as the Waltz info though.

Waltz is a great actor and has already played some iconic villains. He manages to bring unmatched charisma and talent to everything he has done (even The Green Hornet), so this should be a real treat. Plus, if anyone was born to play a villain in a Bond movie, it’s Christoph Waltz. What do you think about the news? Does this have you excited for the still untitled Bond flick with director Sam Mendes returning?

Was she Hercules' ally with the midriff body armor? I thought she looked great and would want to see her in some Thor or Wonder Woman movie.

Spectre to be title of next James Bond film
Media captionDirector Sam Mendes reveals the title, the car and the cast
Spectre will be the title of the 24th official James Bond film, its makers have announced.

Director Sam Mendes revealed the title at a launch event at Pinewood Studios in Buckinghamshire, where principal photography is due to begin on Monday.

Daniel Craig will play 007 for the fourth time in the film, to be released in the UK on 23 October 2015.

Other cast members were also announced at Thursday's event, which was beamed around the world.

They include Sherlock's Andrew Scott, as a Whitehall-based character called Denbigh, and Guardians of the Galaxy actor Dave Bautista, playing a henchman called Mr Hinx.

Italian actress Monica Bellucci and France's Lea Seydoux have been unveiled as the new 'Bond girls', named Lucia Sciarra and Madeleine Swann respectively.

Lea Seydoux (l) and Monica Bellucci have been unveiled as Craig's female co-stars

Waltz (r) won Oscars for his roles in Inglourious Basterds and Django Unchained
As previously reported, double Oscar winner Christoph Waltz will have a role in the film, playing a character called Oberhauser.

The name of the character is the same as that of Bond's former ski instructor, though it has been rumoured Waltz will really be playing Bond's old nemesis Ernst Stavro Blofeld.

Spectre - Special Executive for Counter-intelligence, Terrorism, Revenge and Extortion - was the name of an international crime syndicate, whose 'Number One' was Blofeld himself.

The organisation featured in the Bond films of the 1960s and was part of a legal tussle with a rival film producer that was recently resolved after many years.

Thursday's event also saw the unveiling of the Aston Martin DB10 which Bond will be driving in his latest screen adventure.

The car manufacturer had had a long association with the James Bond series, starting with Goldfinger in 1964.

Returning cast members Ralph Fiennes (M), Naomie Harris (Moneypenny), Ben Whishaw (Q) and Rory Kinnear (Tanner) were also presented before the world's media, alongside Craig himself.

Craig, 46, first played Ian Fleming's legendary secret agent in 2006's Casino Royale, then in 2008's Quantum of Solace and 2012's Skyfall.

"We've got an amazing cast and, I think, a better script than we had last time," Craig told the BBC's Lizo Mzimba after the announcement.

But he refused to confirm Waltz would be playing Blofeld in the film, saying people would have to "wait and see".

Media captionDaniel Craig popped up behind Lizo Mzimba as he was live on the BBC News Channel
"We started something in Skyfall, it felt like a beginning of something," the actor went on.

"This feels like a continuation of that. We're going to put all of those elements in, and much more."

According to the film studio, the plot will see "a cryptic message from Bond's past send him on a trail to uncover a sinister organisation.

"While M battles political forces to keep the secret service alive, Bond peels back the layers of deceit to reveal the terrible truth behind Spectre."

The full cast of Spectre pose for the world's photographers
The 007 production will be based at Pinewood Studios and on location in London, Mexico City, Rome and Tangier and Erfoud, in Morocco.

Bond will return to the snow once again, this time in Solden, along with other Austrian locations, Obertilliach, and Lake Altaussee.

"All of them are amazing places," said Mendes. "I'm very excited to be going to these locations over seven months, which is how long we'll be shooting."

Media captionChristoph Waltz: "Everybody's seen the Bond movies from childhood on...it's legend...it's practically modern mythology"
Bond producers Michael G Wilson and Barbara Broccoli said they were "excited to announce Daniel's fourth instalment in the series".

They also said they were "thrilled that Sam has taken on the challenge of following on the success of Skyfall with Spectre".

John Logan has written the script for Spectre alongside writing team Neal Purvis and Robert Wade, while Hoyte van Hoytema will be its director of photography.

The Dutch cinematographer of Her and Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy recently wowed audiences with his work on Christopher Nolan's Interstellar.

Waltz (top left), Seydoux, Bellucci and Bautista (bottom right) hail from Austria, France, Italy and the US

Andrew Scott (l) will join returning cast members Naomie Harris and Ben Whishaw
Skyfall was the highest grossing film of all time in the UK and made more than $1.1bn (£705m) at the worldwide box office.

The film also picked up two Oscars: one for singer Adele's title track, and another for sound editing.

Isn't Monica Bellucci a little long in the tooth to be playing a Bond Girl? She's got to be the oldest by a decade, at least. Maude Adams was 38 when she did Octopussy. There can't be any others older than that.

Now I'm curious:

Honor Blackman was the oldest at 39. Bellucci will be 51 by the time this comes out. This is also obviously the first time a Bond Girl has been older than Bond.

Can't say I like the title - it would be like naming a Bond movie MI-6- but glad to see SPECTRE returning. The Rise of SPECTRE though...

She's that old? Christ, how long ago as Irreversible made? (I could look it up, but I don't actually care.)
