Isn't the Daily Mail a rag like the National Enquirer?

Sounds like something Alex Jones would be telling us.

Not exactly, no. The Daily Mail actually does some very good journalism, but it's notorious for trying to get people outraged on the basis of isolated and non-representative cases, which is what it's doing in this article. The typical type of article is one, for instance, where it does a front page splash about some Pakistani immigrant (with terrorist links) who's receiving £10,000 a month in various state benefits, and it invariably turns out that the whole thing was an isolated and very unusual fuck up.

So, basically any other news source.

I prefer it over others though because it includes more interesting details and more and better pics than U.S. versions.

im sure the article is complete horse shit, but that being said, if you read it, it clearly says "people die with in 29 hours of being admitted" so they are going to die anyway and there is no humane way to help them. we should do more of that in the US..... oh yea we do its called hospice. fucking sensationalism is all it is.

Replace "old people" with "negroes" and this is something that I might be able to support.

A veterinarian friend stated that we are more kind to our pets then we are with our old people. And he is correct. It's too bad the hospitals/doctors/nursing homes are more concerned about billing then they are with patient care.

You should have an option of hitting a switch and taking a dirt nap in the hospital.

You don't need death panels when you have a self serve button.

I think death panels are a good idea that has been hijacked and distorted by the radical elements against healthcare reform. Any reasonable healthcare system needs to have provisions in place to determine when a person is no longer worth expending limited resources to maintain life.

So you would have no problem with the government having the authority to determine the value of a human life and decide whether or not to allow the life of a private citizen to expire? The precedent and implications of that wouldn't bother you at all?

Yeah, I'm sure that won't be distorted to protect certain classes of people. You're a democrat? You get all the care you need. You're not? Die.

I have no problem with them determing a baseline after which they will only provide minimum care and keeping that consistent for all persons under their care. If you feel there is some benefit to keeping Grandma's terminal carcass from expiring its brain activity a few extra days, you are welcome to assume the costs involved.

Do you think Medicare should spend millions of dollars per patient to prolong their existence a few extra weeks?
