After being bumped from a championship fight with Georges St-Pierre in favor of Nick Diaz, Carlos Condit (27-5 MMA, 4-1 UFC) has his new target.

MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) has learned from sources close to the promotion that Condit and Josh Koscheck (16-5 MMA, 14-5 UFC) have verbally agreed to meet at UFC 143 in February.

UFC president Dana White revealed the likelihood of the potential booking at Saturday night's UFC 138 post-event press conference in Birmingham, England.

"Right now, Carlos Condit wants to fight," White said. "He wants to fight on the same card as GSP and Diaz, so we'll see what happens. Koscheck has been offered.

"It could be with Koscheck. Condit wanted that fight."

According to several sources MMAjunkie.com spoke with on Saturday evening, Condit now has it.

UFC brass have yet to officially announce UFC 143, but the event is expected to take place at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas. St-Pierre defends his welterweight title against Diaz in the main event.

Condit was expected to face St-Pierre at UFC 143 before a post-UFC 137 outburst led the champ to request Diaz, instead. White also revealed that night that Condit is next line should he prove victorious in his next fight, which now appears to be against Koscheck.

Koscheck fought most recently at September's UFC 135 event, where he downed UFC Hall of Famer Matt Hughes via first-round knockout. The win was Koscheck's first fight since suffering a broken orbital bone in a UFC 124 loss to St-Pierre.
Sucks for Condit, I think Kos takes him & there goes his big payday if he does

Tough fight for him, but if Kos wins, what do they do?

I don't think anyone wants to see him fight GSP again.
No idea
Who is ready to be next?

Edit: If Jake gets a big win, I'd guess him

As odd as it sounds.... in this scenario, Dana probably hopes Diaz beats GSP.

If Kos and GSP wins... followed by a Silva win over Sonnen, Dana will actually put together the GSP/Spider Superfight.

Who the fuck would want to see that fight after they have both lost?

I would be more interested in seeing Anderson go up to LHW, and seeing GSP get his belt back.

Besides, there is only like a 0.0001% chance Silva loses to Chael.

his post was a bit confusing but he said if, GSP, Kos & Silva win he can see it being GSP vs Silva
It took me a 2nd read to figure it too

I meant if both GSP (over Diaz) and Silva (over Sonnen) both win.... I think we get that superfight. Their is simply no one else for either to fight. I guess Ellenberger maybe for GSP. I know Leben wanted another shot at Silva, but that isn't going to happen for a little while now. Does anyone really want to see Silva/Munoz?

What I meant by Dana hoping Diaz beats GSP is that if Koscheck beats is current #1B contender in the WW division (since Diaz is now the #1A contender), you can't really promote GSP/Koscheck III.... as has been said before, no one wants to see that fight again. So, if the superfight were to happen, I guess you would have 2 divisions on hold for awhile.... although you could say with the GSP and Silva dominations, the divisions have been in a holding pattern anway. I'm no MMA expert so feel free to tell me I'm wrong. I have a thick skin. LOL

No way does Dana want Diaz to win but everything else i agree with
If Diaz wins he gets more power & harder to deal with
If GSP beats him soundly Diaz goes back down the card with less reason to open his trap & bitch

The only way Diaz doesn't talk crap is if GSP finishes him.

One thing to keep an eye on is that Diaz has a very active guard and GSP is not your typical LnP'er (contrary to what some fans believe) GSP is always looking for a finish. We could easily see a technical fight on the ground (I doubt GSP wants to keep the fight standing), but since GSP will be the one on top, he will get the decision.

Back on topic, if Condit can't beat Koscheck, he doesn't deserve GSP, so I think the fight makes sense.

Finally, with GSP and AS both injured, this was the perfect time to make it happen, but since it hasn't, I pretty much given up on the AS/GSP super fight.

I've said it many times, but as a GSP fan, I have no desire to see him get demolished by Anderson. I would rather see Silva move to LHW and fight some of the top guys there.

Then again, I personally think Bisping deserves a shot if he beats Miller (More than Chael) and If Palhares can get 2 or 3 decent wins where he waits for the ref to actually stop the fight I think he could be a contender.

Honestly, I'd be ok with a Bisping shot, and a Sonnen/Palhares #1 contender.

I think Bisping still needs one more quality win, if he beats Miller he would be on a 4 fight wins streak with wins over Jim Miller, Akiyama and Rivera. None of those are top 10 fighters. He needs a win over a Vitor, Sonnen or Munoz. In fact I think if Bisping wins, a fight vs Munoz for #1 contender would make sense.
