I want to punch this guy in the face.

This is a REAL AD on craigslist:

This is a legal sale. What happened was this: A U.S. soldier, family friend, ran into some money problems while in between tours in Iraq. He left his Dell Inspiron 1501 as collateral. He is unable to pay, and his wife claims medical bills. Regardless, the laptop must be sold to pay his debt.

The only stipulation is that the purchaser must agree to not donate the laptop back to him.

Asking price is $300. It is in great condition, and includes an internal wireless card, 1GB of RAM, a CD-RW drive, and a 80 GB hard drive.

For faster response, telephone (609) xxx-xxxx. You can e-mail, but preference is given to those who phone.

Not bad enough that his "friend" isn't worth waiting a little longer on to get his money back,
but to not allow anyone to buy it and then just give it back shows what a creep he is.

He's probably some anti-war douche who is too much of a pussy to do anything else in order to manifest his views... I hope someone buys it and can return it to the real man who bought it. Fuck this douchebag.

Buy the laptop and give it to the wife. You've agreed not to give it to Him.

You're a smart feller. I totally overlooked the obvious. Hopefully there's enough personal info on it that would allow someone to do just that.

Has to be a scam, why the fuck would they give the details of the previous owner otherwise.

I still go with the kiddy porn angle. But I'm firmly behind the "scam" belief.

or you could buy it and throw it in the trash...Trash is public domain...anyone can then take it out of the trash and give it to him...Of course I am wondering what happens if you buy it and just give it to him...Do they bring you to Craigslist court? Is that the same place jimmy goes when the picture doesn't match the girl who shows up to shit on you?

I don't know anything about law, but I seriously doubt he could come after you for that. Even so, it just says you can't "donate it" back to the guy. Which leaves the wife option or just sell it back to the soldier for $1 or something like that. But regardless, what a douche friend.

Ummm....once you buy it....it belongs to you. So you can do, or give it to, whoever you want to. You don't need loopholes or anything like that.

With that said, I stand firmly behind the people who think it's a scam. If you buy this and give it back to the "soldier", you will see the same ad up the next day.
