December 28, 2012 (CHICAGO) (WLS) -- For the first time in four years, Chicago has reached 500 homicides.

According to police records, the city witnessed 512 homicides in 2008. While the crime rate in Chicago is down this year, the murder rate is not. It is up 17 percent, with only a few days left until 2013.

In the first three months of 2012 alone, the city saw the murder rate jump 60 percent. It then leveled off, but continued to be ahead of the 2011 rate.

A shooting of a 40-year-old man on the West Side marked the 500th shooting.

The man was shot in the Austin neighborhood Thursday night in the 4000 block of West Augusta.

The victim has been identified as Nathaniel T. Jackson. Police are looking for a suspect.

The odds were against them with the "gun control" but more importantly with Medicaid and clinics everywhere with medical advancements from decades worth of advancements in technique and technology from having to deal with urban jungle warfare and now overseas war experience, BUT THEY PULLED IT OFF!

Somehow, people in Illinois and Wisconsin will be telling me how the violent crime rate is down.

Also, I wonder how many were CareerStatted down?

The slaying came hours after the Chicago Police Department said the city was one homicide away from the 500 mark for the year.

OH COME ON! YOU CAN'T JINX YOURSELF LIKE THAT!

dont worry people chicago is trying to implement a $25 per gun tax on each gun sold inside of city limits.

Apart from that buying Long Island Iced Teas for alderman, I don't really think that is going to do anything. I am certain that it will have no impact on crime
and just be used to line connected people's pockets.

OH LITERAL NECKBEARD.

http://secondcitycop.blogspot.com/

Edit: The apologia is already beginning. The 500 corpses represent a "decrease in the increase of violence" from last year. Okay, terrific. Fewer cops getting paid a lower amount of money for an increasing amount of increasingly dangerous duty resulted in more dead people than last year, but it was a decrease in the increase from last year's poor policy. SUCCESS!

Now all the gun shops in Chicago are going to have to hang signs on their trunks letting their customers know about the new tax.

The progressive excuse is that its because they can legally buy guns outside of Chicago and bring them back to Chicago so you need national gun bans. If that was true we would see more crime in states like Vermont that have very little gun control laws.

It's mostly just gibbmedats killing other saucer lipped tribesman, so nobody really gives a shit. Nor should they. The only thing missing is working folks being able to carry and protect themselves, and that number will get much higher in a good way.

Actually, he's right. That's EXACTLY what I have seen Chicago (and DC, for that matter) politicians argue. Never mind the fact that most career criminals are legally disqualified from gun purchases, and straw purchases (ie: get your "girlfriend" to buy it for you) are illegal as hell. It must be the fault of the suburbs and their gun stores...

Hey look, another murder being reclassed as a "death investigation" so the powers-that-be don't have to answer for failed policy.

http://secondcitycop.blogspot.com/2012/12/its-miracle.html

Hours after Chicago police listed the shooting death of a West Side man as the city’s 500th homicide of the year, the department backtracked and said the city has yet to reach the grim milestone.

Superintendent Garry McCarthy had told the Tribune Thursday afternoon that the homicide count stood at 499. Hours later, Nathaniel T. Jackson, 40, was gunned down outside a store in the Austin neighborhood and the department confirmed Friday morning that his death was the 500th homicide. Mayor Rahm Emanuel released a statement noting that "Chicago has reached an unfortunate and tragic milestone."

But then the department issued its own statement calling reports of the tally inaccurate, saying the number remained at 499. Asked for clarification, a spokeswoman for the superintendent said one of the homicide cases from earlier this week has been reclassified as a death investigation.
Anything to save his ass.

From that website and others, did you know that Chicago's CompStat reporting is deemed to be so reclassifying, under-reporting and corrupt that the FBI doesn't take Chicago crime numbers?

Congratulations to the city of Chicago for once again showing the rest of the country the way and for serving as one of a few but brilliant lights of western civilization.

I'd go "Rahm, comment?" but he isn't even in the country right now! Last I heard he was in Saigon.
Fuckin' SAIGON when his city is a shithole with the most murders in nearly a decade.

Cook County's 25 dollar tax will just drive out gun stores and incentivize people to purchase on a black market. So not only will that do nothing for crime, the more I think about it is at the very least counterproductive from a standpoint of stopping illegal sales and might even increase the amount of murders because they will be done with unregistered firearms.
