NEW ORLEANS – Ray Nagin, former New Orleans mayor and the public face of the battered city in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, has been indicted by a grand jury on 21 federal corruption charges.

The indictment, released Friday, alleges Nagin awarded lucrative city contracts to
contractors in exchange for more than $200,000 in kickbacks and first-class trips to Hawaii, Jamaica and Las Vegas.

Nagin becomes the first mayor in the city's 295-year history to be indicted under federal corruption charges.
200 grand in bribery, plus trips.

In saying he's the first ever to be indicted, I would go with they're trying to imply that he was so shitty at hiding it that they had to charge him.
I have a hard time believing there has never been a corrupt mayor in NOLA before (or maybe I have a hard time believing that there's been a non-corrupt mayor there before).

No big deal. We need patriots like him right now.

Given his exemplary history of actual gun confiscation of the type libtards dreams about, they should put him on the 2016 ticket.

Cuomo/Nagin!!!

For the children!!!

Don't worry, the federal prosecutor that pushed for his indictment has been forced out. So this shouldn't happen again.

Eventually he will be released from prison to a hero's welcome like Sharp James.

It is at the point where I'm more surprised when a nagger doesn't have a corruption charge or ethics violation investigation.

I think almost all politicians are dirtbags, they are politicians after all. But why does the Negro seem to be so bumbling and base about it?

Also you have to know this is the stuff he got caught for... again I could only imagine what else he did during his term that will never see the light of day.

Nagin had so many shady contracts its ridiculous.

The one I really really thought would hurt him was the emergency communications issue. Before Katrina there was a proposal to create a unified emergency communications network. Things got kicked around, people got millions in gov't contracts and then bam... Katrina hits and the communications network is total trash. For a while people were outraged about it but it went away. Just like Bostonians getting pancaked due to shitty construction in The Big Dig people move on and nobody really gets in trouble.

At least he didn't get busted running gift card scams like the last mayor of Baltimore. That was some real crackhead shit.
