CHESTER BASIN, Nova Scotia, May 7 (UPI) -- A Canadian 12th-grader suspended for wearing a "Life Is Wasted Without Jesus" T-shirt was pulled from school by his father over a religious tolerance forum.
William Swinimer, a student at Forest Heights Community School in Chester Basin, Novas Scotia, was initially suspended for five days for refusing to stop coming to school wearing the T-shirt. He was allowed to return -- T-shirt included -- under a South Shore Regional School Board ruling Friday, the Canadian Broadcasting Corp. reported Monday.
However, his father, John Swinimer, said he pulled his son out of the school when he learned all students were scheduled to attend a religious tolerance session Monday to learn how to respectfully express their beliefs.
"He will not attend this school unless they are having reading, writing and arithmetic -- good old-fashioned academics," John Swinimer said. "When they're having forums, when they're having other extracurricular activity, he will not attend that school."
Students at the school said the younger Swinimer would often make students feel uncomfortable by preaching his beliefs.
"It started with him preaching his religion to kids and then telling them to go to hell. A lot of kids don't want to deal with this anymore," said Katelyn Hiltz, the student council vice president.
The students said the T-shirt was the last straw that led to their complaints, but it was not how the issue started.
"He's told kids they'll burn in hell if they don't confess themselves to Jesus," student Riley Gibb-Smith said.

Religion is a control scheme. Wake up before it's too late.

The kid is an idiot, but even gullible, superstitious sociopaths should be allowedd to express their beliefs on a shirt. If he was taunting the other kids, then he should have been suspended for that act specifically.

Just tell him to fuck off. No need to suspend him (unless he was disrupting class).

I wonder if that T-shirt comes in a size that would fit Magic Bob

He pulled Jesus boy out of the school? Good... problem solved for everybody. Now he can homeschool the kid and do the job of religiously mindfucking him right and proper.

The screwed up thing is that it was an anti-Jesus shirt.

I do have a problem with the school on this, btw. Just because the kid is spreading Jeebus at school, you don't fucking send him over to reeducation camp. In fact, send the other fucking kids to a camp where they teach them to stand up for their beliefs. Because apparently their parents failed to do that. If your kid is scared of Hell, you explain how silly the notion of Hell is. You don't rely on others never mentioning it to him.

I knew a few Jehovah's witness type kids growing up, and guess what: they tried to be preachy, only to find that some people in this world are outspoken heathens who enjoy making fun of Jesus freaks. From that point on, we usually got along just fine.

I don't know if everyone else is fully aware of this, and I'm the only one who just realized it, but these "children" are 17 going on 18. They're 12th graders.

They want to protect a group of adults from the notion of Hell. All this time, I thought these were little kids. How does a classfull of 18 yo's fail to deal with one religious lunatic, without a special "tolerance session"?

Look at our society in general, and it's not that surprising. It's the same mentality that forces comics and other public figures to meet with GLAAD for "insensitive comments". Everything requires some type of overreaction.

Isn't it obvious, they're doing the "avoid-the-lawsuit" dance.

And on a related note, I've been confronted with a shitty religious wackjob in my adventures that wouldn't back down after she saw my rolling eyes, so after cleverly implying that her beliefs were completely retarded fairytales suddenly I'm the bad guy because I made a grown woman cry.

I know every guy on here would probably be thrilled at the thought of making a woman cry, but it really feels shitty when it's done without fists.

The agenda that is enforced in Canadas public schools is far more diabolical than any stupid fucking shirt.
