I did the flashlight deal, no picture. Hooked up an external monitor and push Fn F8 but no picture on the external monitor. I hear a bleeping noise in windows telling me that I pushed the buttons. Is there a click yes gadget happening on the screen (that I can't see) or should it just happen? It's windows XP pro on a Dell Latitude 2200. This thing is too old to buy parts to fix it, but I was going to suggest maybe they hook up an external monitor to it.

Hold the power button down for 5 seconds to shut it off and then turn it back on again. If you hear all the regular boot up sounds but get no picture, try doing the fn F8 thing again.

I've turned it off and on a number of times. The external monitor LED turns green like it's getting some kind of video signal from the laptop but the screen is black as the LCD.

Err... Could be a burned out video card. It might have blown a component, so the monitor is getting something, but it isn't a picture.

a 2200, that's like carrying an old desktop around with you.

Yank the hard drive and move on, it's done. It's almost 8 years old.

Yep, told the owner to part out the battery, Ram, and DVDRW drive and sell it on Ebay. Put the money towards a new laptop. Wish there was a way to test the LCD screen. Those are going for $110 for the older 1020x768 VGA ones.
