I’m a bit of an idiot (surprise surprise) and I bought a GoPro hero 7 silver, I really like the camera (after a few what the fuck moments) but, I didn’t realize that the camera didn’t have an external microphone input, the hero 7 black does, and retuning the camera is just too much of a pain in the ass. I had already bought a wireless microphone kit to hook up to it... so instead of returning the camera, I decided to add even more complications to my life by buying the external digital recorder. The audio quality of the internal mic on the GoPro is atrocious (just watch a few of the videos I made with it on you tube)

Anyone have this type of digital recording device? the reason I bought the external recorder was to record a 3rd “clean” audio track off a lavaliere mic for my YouTube projects, so I could run it through garage band and fix my voice (I absolutely despise hearing my own voice) and this unit is also a USB stereo microphone because my fucking MacBook doesn’t have a traditional 1/8 microphone input
Has anybody actually tried this? I understand the basic concept of adding and syncing a separate audio track I also know it adds another layer of bullshit to “movie making”

Also, I’m using Apple movie maker, which works ok, and does shit that I haven’t even touched yet, but, is there a “better” program for movie editing? I know that “final cut” is supposed to be the “go to” but I don’t think I need to spend a zillion bucks on an editing program to cut my shitty YouTube videos.... even though at this point I have amassed enough equipment to shoot a real movie... at least a decent quality porno...
Yes I’m babbling

imovie can handle this, it shouldn't be too hard to import them both into the computer and mix them to make the complete video, just do the old "hand clap" to be able to see when to line them up unless you want to go all out and get the clapper board and look professional. the big thing is to remember to start the audio device so you don't have to re do it afterwards.

I've been doing the hand clap, i still haven't had the time to actually sit down and figure it out, the audio does sound good, i need a dead cat for the mic, but a clapper board would be funny

I got that pic from Amazon, they have then there real cheap but you need some un involved person to operate it while you do the acting and people will wonder what a huge production staff you have to do your film work. Then run a big credit list at the end with made up names.

Yea so I was shooting a bunch of test footage today, guess who forgot to check the memory space on the recorder.... oh well that’s why it’s test footage. My goal is to be more “cinema graphic” with my videos like “click spring”,”Frank makes” or “this old Tony” I would like to do camera shoots and full voice over but that’s down the road, I still need to just get into the habit of editing down my drivel into sub 15 min bits

This old Tony would be hard to beat, he puts so much into videos that I think he does projects just so he can do the filming part
