Cliff notes for those that don't want to read.
They punched a bunch of placental mammal traits into a computer, and it came back that the earliest mammal that would have spawned all these traits lived 200,000 years after dinosaurs.

As much as I love biology and stories like this, this is pretty much a non-story. This is like using the game Spore to create life. The real story would be if they found the fossil of the animal that this computer program predicts.
