Did anyone see/care about this?

Eddie Griffin, formerly of the MN Timberwolves, is dead

Stupid N apparently tried to beat a train across the tracks...

Former Timberwolves forward dies in SUV-train crash

Basketball always came easily to Eddie Griffin. It was life off the court that he had trouble handling.

The former Minnesota Timberwolves forward died last week when his sport utility vehicle collided with a freight train in a fiery crash, the Harris County medical examiner's office said Tuesday.

Investigators used dental records to identify Griffin, 25, who began his pro career with the Houston Rockets in 2001. He was waived by the Timberwolves in March.
You guys may remember him more after he got a DUI while watching porn in his SUV

This was a little while ago homey!!

He played at Seton Hall Prep. My high school (who had Jay Williams, the Duke point guard who was #2 overall in the '02 NBA draft behind Yao Ming and fucked himself up on his motorcycle long before Ben Roethlisberger made it cool) played them in the state championship my sophomore year and were beaten handily by Griffin and the rest of them.

I was really surprised how much of a fuckup and non-factor Griffin turned out to be in the NBA.

Griffin went to Seton Hall University. Not the high school. The guy you're thinking of was Marcus Tony-El. He was on that Seton Hall Prep team that won the state title and had 4 guys go play D1. He was in the same freshman class at SHU as Griffin. They were supposed to lead SHU deep into the tourny and they were a pre-season top 10, maybe even top 5. But Tommy Amaker left for Michigan and the program fell apart again.

You're right! I stand corrected. Griffin was from Philly. My bad! The year before our team ran into St. Pat's, who had Al Harrington playing Center! Those years blur together. I can never keep 'em straight
