No previews for 15:17 or P. Rabbit
‘Fifty Shades Freed’ Arouses $5.6M On Thursday Night
I hate their headlines.
My favorite part of this game/thread is watching @Hog's Big Ben get repeatedly fucked.
By Chip and various negroes. It's the worst.
I chose the train movie!
First time I can remember not going all-in on a kids animated film.
So it’s probably going to blow up.
Sony Animation’s Peter Rabbit is coming in second with $5M today and a projected $22M-$23M
Jumanji...just fucking die already.
So Black Panther is split for 4 days, I suck at figuring out how they split % for these days.
What is the right way to calculate the percentage
Total the FML Bux and then calculate the percentage each day represents:
Friday: $501 (32.9%)
Saturday: $451 (29.8%)
Sunday: $348 (22.8%)
Monday: $220 (14.5%)
Next thing to do is to find a comp. Deadpool is as good as any:
Friday $47,335,592 (31.1%)
Saturday $42,508,025 (27.9%)
Sunday $42,591,022 (27.9%)
Monday $19,759,214 (13.1%)
The only word of extreme caution is that Deadpool's first Sunday was Valentine's Day, one of the biggest moviegoing days of the entire year. Also, it was rated R, meaning it likely got less of a President's Day boost than Black Panther will. The only other comic book movie to open on President's Day weekend was Ghost Rider.
In this instance I would flip Friday and Saturday, as Ghost Rider came out in 2007 before Thursday previews were a thing. If you do that, Sunday still emerges as the best value. Don't know if it gets the bonus or not. If it doesn't, a 3x Monday play with whatever gets the bonus could be a better play.
Come on Snow Blizzard-y conditions for Saturday+Sunday for North East America!
I got nothing this week. Changing the filler every day, but the same top Panther. Get out yer wallets, black folk.
Deadline did the estimated previews thing last night and came up with $25M. So that probably means even more when the dust settles today. Goddamnit.
FRIDAY AM UPDATE: Disney and Marvel's Black Panther brought in $25.2 million from Thursday night previews, just shy of doubling the $12.7 million brought in by Deadpool. When it comes to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it outperformed the $25 million brought in by Captain America: Civil War and is behind only Avengers: Age of Ultron's $27.6 million, making it the second highest preview gross within the franchise.
Fuck it. Not changing anything.
Yeah I’m not either after getting burned by It.
I seriously considered some blanks just to have as much as possible of that Panther money in my lineup.
I went back and looked. Thought I had two sundays but at some point I must have changed to Friday/Sunday. Eh, either way I’m still fine with it.
I have two Sundays with some filler I'm still not happy with, but there's no catching up to Chip anyway.
Am I the only one who wishes FML would go back to allowing you to see users' lineups without clicking on them?? It's infuriating.
4 Monday Panther and the Rest filler
You can on the website.
Friday vagueness from Deadline
Black Panther is headed toward a historic weekend with $200M-$205M
Fifty Shades Freed is estimated to take $5.5M today, -70% with a 4-day between $15M-$20M
Early Man is eyeing $1.1M today, $6.1M over four-days
Samson is looking at $750K for Friday, $2.6M over the four-day holiday
1x Friday, 1x Jumanji, 6x Train Movie. I never even considered a 1x Friday play that didn't have another Panther screen. Oh well.
I thought the kids movies were outside the Black Panther audience. Oh, well.
Jumanji has made an S-ton of money so clearly its appeal is wider. And I probably saw more kids at BP than at any other superhero movie.
