Do they work, what's the deal?

Been doing a basic daily work out (push ups, sit ups, running and biking) for about a month now. I'm seeing results and feeling pretty good. Just wondering if there are any pills I can pop to help speed up results.

Edit to add

What about those powdered drinks too? Anything I can drinl in the morning in place of breakfast that will help cut fat/build muscle? MetRx....that stuff still around?

My god this is a complicated question... You have no idea how much.

Check out 4chan.org/fit and you'll find some good info. 4chan can actually be a good source of information (just not /b/)

I've heard good things about Rip Fuel and Hydroxycut for fat burners, but as always the best way to burn fat is to eat protein heavy diets and cut back on starch and carbs, and do a lot of cardio. Also, walking on a treadmill at an incline for like 45 m to an hour a day is a great pure fat burner. It's a little creepy the first few times you do it, though, your sweat smells like the most horrible BO you've ever smelled.

As far as the powdered shakes go, they're all essentially just protein powders and creatine with some vitamins thrown in. The base product is usually powdered milk. Asking which one to use in general is like asking which type of petroleum fueled motor vehicle is best to use without saying what you're going to use it for.

Generally speaking, you only need to use supplement shakes if you're either trying to bulk up, or cut weight in a major way. Again, high protein, low carbs and calories as a meal replacement if you're trying to cut weight in general, high protein and calories, low carbs if you're trying to get built. You've gotta read labels and do some independent research based on the results you're looking for.

If you wanna get more specific with the questions I can help a bit, but it's been some years since I lived in this world.

What VT said pretty much. High protein, low carb diets with a lot of cardio. And make it lean lean protein. Preferably chicken or tuna. Stay away from red meats and pork. If you still feel the need to use a supplement to help with weight loss try something called Animal Cuts. It is a thermogenic and it actually works, but, you have to be willing to put in work and make sure your diet is right. Also, drink lots of water. Not drinking enough water will actually cause your body to try and retain water as an emergency measure. Stay away from high sodium foods and use less salt. As far as protien supplements go, I like to use Optimium Nutritions Pro Complex. It's 60 grams of very high quality protien, 280 calories and almost no sugar.

Edit to add: Anyone that tells you can target fat is bullshitting you also. There is no such thing as targeted fat burning. Your body will burn fat from where ever it wants to. You can target muscles to exercise, but not fat. So don't start doing a bunch of crunches and sit ups thinking you're going to wake up one day with 6 pack abs. Just do your cardio and it will eventually fall away. It just takes time and patience.

As already said, eat the proper amount of protein a day. Try to get at least 1g of protein for every 1lb of body weight. I'll have a protein drink and a bar as snacks throughout the day but they aren't my main source of calories and protein. I make sure to plenty from things such as chicken, fish, peanut butter, fat free milk, etc.

The shakes/bars make a difference to me, I'll have more energy and have been able to add a lot of muscle while keeping with it.

I see those pills as gimmicks. Proper diet and exercise is how you lose weight.

I've found that diet is more important than exercise in really dropping the pounds. You need both, but diet is king. pretty much agree with what everyone has said starting with VT, but I would add one thing. Cut out alcohol & especially beer. Not forever of course, but at times I find myself needing to drop 10 or so, I will go dry for 1 or maybe 2 months plus do the other stuff....... Done.

Burners, stackers, blasters, cleansers, etc... the results are all the same... you will take very expensive shits.

Nothing you put INTO your body(short of food poisoning bacteria, parasites, viruses, etc...) is going to make weight come OFF your body.

Save your money... eat less, eat better, jump about vigorously on a regular basis, and you WILL lose weight.

It ain't rocket surgery.

Anybody who tells you that losing weight is a highly complicated process is either scamming, or has been scammed.

As what THP meant to say.. its not rocket science :action-sm. You mix the good foods with the bad foods... eat plenty of fruits and vegitables.. take a good multi vitamin.. and live an active life. You will be at your target weight in no time.

Best to go the old fashioned route; eat less and do more.

Stop looking for an easy fix. There is no diet in a bottle. Burn more cals than you take in, and take in healthier cals.

That is the only quick fix that lasts a lifetime.

I'm someone who frequently has to cut weight.I've done everything from staving myself to taking handfulls of ephedra. I found the easiest and best way to cut weight is eating every 3 hrs. there are plenty of plans online that will tell you the proper foods to eat. your not real hungry and you eat all day. the hardest part is no carbs at dinner for me. I dropped 43lbs in 10 weeks, but I also was training like an animal not just dieting.

Onto supplements. I've taken just about everything out there. Ephedra helps curb your appetite and it gives you energy. you can still get it online or in mom and pop convenience stores. NO2 worked when I was lifting all the time.(my brother thought i was juicing) it also gives you a lot of energy etc. Do a body cleanse to get all of the impacted shit out of you or a colonic if your feeling sexy.

(20 minutes a day)
with

all those Stacker, Hydroxy methoxy pills really don't work on their own, and they are overpriced for what they do to you. If this was 1997, you could buy some Ephedra pills and not eat sugar, and you'd lose weight in a few weeks. Unfortunatly the FDA racket made Ephedra/Ephedrine impossible to find now, so all weight loss pills have is basically caffiene and vitamins. (Hoodia pills are not worth it, apparently this cactus extract cuts your appetite, but it's not a stimulant - Remember, chemical stimulant is the only thing matters in a weight loss pill)

The only compound in pills that will make you loose weight, in the role of a stimulant is caffeine (Ephedrine HCL back in the day fit this role PERFECTLY). If it doesn't increase your heart-rate, your not burning calories off it.

And if you notice, all these CVS and GNC weightloss pills don't even have pure caffeine powder in them, They use round about ways of providing you with caffiene by including all kinds of overpriced and ineffiencent 'herbs' and 'root extracts' that have natural caffeine alkaloids in them. That's why the cost is so rediculous for some of these products, like $80 , or $40 a bottle. The manufacturers like to be able to say "all natural" and "herbal". If they just said "Caffeine HCL synthesized in the labratory in 50 kilogram batches" it wouldn't help their marketing, and they wouldn't be able to charge ridiculous prices to pad their profit margins.

(obviously as you can guess, it's probably healthier to ingest the pure caffeine chemical, than to put herbs and roots and plant extracts into your body, where science doesn't fully understand the effects of the other chemical metabolites from that shit)

If you really feel you need pills to help you, find the cheapest caffiene pills you can, and you'll save money compared to buying Stacker or whatever. (you can probably find caffeine pills online in bullk for like 5 cents a pill)

The "energy" you're feeling is from the caffeine... nearly all of those supplements contain honking big doses of caffeine. Same as chugging a Red Bull. Nothing magical or rocket surgical about it.

Do a body cleanse to get all of the impacted shit out of you or a colonic if your feeling sexy.
Unless you're some 90-year-old geezer lying on your death bed in a nursing home, then there is no impacted shit in your colon. The impacted shit isn't in your colon... it's spewing out of the mouths of the cleansing carnies who are running the "detoxification" scam.

Food for thought...

If there were a magic pill for losing weight, Oprah would have it. Even if it cost a million dollars a pill... Oprah would have it.

Oprah is a chronic fatso who struggles to lose weight. She has mountains of cash, she's open to all manner of pseudoscientific voodoo, and she has access to every physiological and nutritional "expert" on the planet.

If you could buy skinny... Oprah would be skinny.

On the rare occasions when Oprah manages to drop a few LBs, how does she do it? Yep... diet and exercise.

If there was a magic pill, Oprah would have it, and she'd be skinny. She ain't, because there ain't no magic pill.

Ephedra gives you ridiculous energy. I'm pretty much numb to caffenine. i drink coffee all day and red bull does nothing for me. and the NO2 energy was more gym energy not caffine ups.

A detox will drop 5-7lbs right away. I've done it. It's a common weight cutting technique.

It's pretty much all just chemical stimulants though. This isn't a matter of magical healthy zoom power from a can. It's just crazily overpriced chemical stimulants.

I just checked... that NO2 stuff... nearly 70 bucks for 11 ounces!

Unless you're an athlete trying to make some sort of weight classification, then there really is no reason for radically fast weight loss. It's not healthy, and it can be dangerous.

I once lost 8 pounds running a half marathon during a heat wave. It was NOT a "good thing". It wasn't "healthy". And I put the weight right back on after I rehydrated anyway.

And no... a colonic will not flush several pounds of "toxins" out of a person. That's just cleanser carny scam bullshit. You may flush a pound or two of shit out of yourself, but what's the point? It was coming out in your next dump anyway. Going in to get it is just a waste of time and money... and an unnecessary health risk.

I am a mma/bjj guy so i have to cut weight often. My weight fluctuates A LOT from 200lbs to about 245, the 1st 7-10 is water weight true. NO2 is the only supplement that has ever worked for me. i've taken all the test enhancers and other NO products. I should just do steroids it's cheaper in the long run and the results are quicker. But that's not my thing, which sucks in the sport I compete in cause a lot of guys in my weight classes (197,210,225,225+ depending on the time of year) are juicing.
