The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is expected to ban the sale of flavored e-cigarette products throughout the U.S. as officials have become increasingly alarmed with its draw to minors.

Preliminary government data shows e-cigarette sales have risen 77 percent among high schoolers and 50 percent among middle schoolers in 2018, which means that 3.5 million minors have been vaping throughout 2018.

As soon as next week, FDA Commissioner Scott Gottlieb is poised to announce bans on sales of most flavored e-cigarettes at tens of thousands of convenience stores and gas stations across the country, according to The Washington Post, in an attempt to curb the epidemic from growing.

Additionally, the agency is expected to also impose stricter rules such as age-verification for online sales.

The news isn’t surprising as the FDA announced in September that it has issued more than 1,300 warning letters to retailers who were illegally selling JUUL, one of the most popular e-cigarette brands on the market today, as well as other e-cigarette products.

”We see clear signs that youth use of electronic cigarettes has reached an epidemic proportion, and we must adjust certain aspects of our comprehensive strategy to stem this clear and present danger,” Gottlieb said in a statement last month.

JUUL, which has endured much of the blame for the rise in e-cigarette use by youths, declined to comment on the ban, but did say last month that it “wants to be part of the solution in keeping e-cigarettes out of the hands of young people.”

"Our mission is to improve the lives of adult smokers by providing them with a true alternative to combustible cigarettes. Appropriate flavors play an important role in helping adult smokers switch. By working together, we believe we can help adult smokers while preventing access to minors, and we will continue to engage with the FDA to fulfill our mission,” JUUL said.

I see nothing about menthols. You just being sensational.

Btw if they ban menthols I'll beat someone to death over it. My L&M Menthol 100s keep me from hurting people..............and from running anymore than a few yards.

But Gottlieb isn’t going to stop there. He also wants to ban menthol in regular cigarettes.

It was between two ads... and didn't copy pasta right. - Kinda saw this coming when they got rid of those Camel flavored ones... and a few years ago Newports (my exes and ni... ce people like to smoke) introduced Newport like regulars with no menthol.

I just remember seeing them around here when they banned all the wacky flavored ones... I am glad I quit they are almost $8 here and I was buying like 2 or 3 packs a day. Wasn't bad when they were like $2.50 in ought 6...

Wasn't a menthol smoker... but some of those Camel ones were pretty good.

What will 7-11 do with all that empty space on the wall?

Are they banning the pineapple flavored Swishers as well?

They are available in peach, grape, blueberry, tropical, wine, strawberry, cherry, regular, chocolate, sweet, white grape and black, among other unique flavors. For fruity, juicier options, smokers can choose the white grape, blueberry, peach or strawberry packs.

.... no Pineapple.

They are regulated differently then cigarettes... that why you can buy "mini cigars" like a 20 pack for less then a pack of regular smokes. Well around here.

It will be interesting to see the fallout from the menthol ban, given the propensity of "young people" to prefer menthol cigarettes such as Newports.

Wonder if deh high bush blue berries or low bush... and shiznet...

The chemistry involved in these flavors is epic... and I am totally sure not carcinogens...

FYI I still can taste these things... that we smoke when we fished in skitter and black fly infested places...

I just noticed rum dipped and wine flavored... well that takes me back like 25 years...

they are getting rid of the menthols because they wanted to get all Ecigs and flavored varieties out of convenience stores but when they tried to remove the mint flavors the Ecig companies said "But menthols..." and so the FDA goes after menthols because they want to attack Ecigs...
I wonder what the tobacco lobby paid to backdoor the attack on Ecigs...The same way the Beer companies went after legal weed...

Ya either a one hitter or a joint sometimes a bong... the stuffing of cigar thing seems more recent. Note this was before all new super weed they have now.

I did like to smoke those old port ones when we would go fishing and shit trying to keep the bugs away.

Like over a quarter of a century ago recent?
Umm ya I fart dust... I have a vivid memory of driving in Hyannis MA in the late 80's... and seeing some blonde surfer dude taking a hit from a roach with a hemostat in a T Bar Corvette... in like mid day traffic. Ya so this blunt thing is new... as from when I stopped partaking until recently I really didn't pay attention to weed smoking methods as I either had a full time job or ran a farm.... sooooo that's why.
