I have a VCR/DVD-R combo and and DVD player hooked to it. I always wanted to copy my DVD to let people borrow some or copy a rent movie. However if I try it gives me a error about copyright protection. Last week I hooked up 1 DVD player to the TiVo and then feed it back out the DVD-R! BINGO!!! I could record any DVD I have!!!! Easy and fast! Sure you don't get the menu's and stuff but still easy for making backups or letting people you dont trust borrow a movie!

Movie Editing Software that rips DVD?

I am looking for a good program that will me take scenes from a dvd (a copyrigthed movie) and rip it. I want to make a 'fake' trailer using scenes from other movies. However no problem I have lets me do this USING the DVD Rom drive. I can hook my DVD player up but it would be EASYER with using the DVD-Rom. A Friend I have can do it but he is a MAC and says the software he uses if Mac only.
Anyone know anything I can try?

I kind of like to copy DVDs by putting them in my toaster. Put the orginal DVD in the left slot and the blank DVD in the right slot.

DVD burner = about $50, which = mostly perfect 1 to 1 dupes of your DVDs. Open your wallet, cheapskate!

If you don't want to use a PC, then you fail. You don't belong in the 21st century.

Well in the last two years I have wanted or needed to make a copy of 1 dvd so it's only really my thing to waste $50 when there other things I need more. However if a friend ask for a copy and gives me a disc, he can have a TiVo copy. It's not that bad and for free he can't bitch.
I don't think that looks much different.
From the DVD:

From the DVD copy using TiVo:

For anyone that doesn't have a DVD Rom Burner, or make that many copies of DVD it's not a BAD way to do it. You can also burn from your TiVo/Amazon Unboxed.
