When it comes right down to it I prefer tax dollars be spent on dirty lil gals over most of the rest of what it's spent on tho.

"Welfare recipients took out cash at bars, liquor stores, X-rated video shops, hookah parlors and even strip clubs — where they presumably spent their taxpayer money on lap dances rather than diapers, a Post investigation found.
A database of 200 million Electronic Benefit Transfer records from January 2011 to July 2012, obtained by The Post through a Freedom of Information request, showed welfare recipients using their EBT cards to make dozens of cash withdrawals at ATMs inside Hank’s Saloon in Brooklyn; the Blue Door Video porn shop in the East Village; The Anchor, a sleek SoHo lounge; the Patriot Saloon in TriBeCa; and Drinks Galore, a liquor distributor in The Bronx."

I think the way EBT works around here is they can only get uncooked food.... I know people try to sell their EBT stuff at wal-mart. "Give me 50 bucks and get you 100 bucks worth of groceries on my EBT".

I didn't realize some places EBT cards work like debit cards.

I think there are a couple of states you can use your card at say fast food places... not here though. Yum brands is petitioning the KY gubmn't right now...

So we had "dozens" of withdrawals (assume less than a hundred otherwise they would've said hundreds) out of 200 Million transactions. Lets do the math

99/200,000,000 = a really freaking small percentage. Outrage meter pretty low.

Well and the withdrawals are like 40 to 120 bucks... and I would think the amount available would depend on how many burdens you had etc... oh less the fees those non-bank privately owned ATMs charge of course...

I assumed that most people on EBTs had STDs in the first place.

IKR, it's like they're not doing their part to support these lovely ladies. We really need to get these numbers up.

That's the number I have a problem with.
We're giving away way too much money.
Doesn't matter what they're doing with it.
200 million between Jan 2011 and July 2012 - that works out to about 12 million per month. Still a lot but puts it in perspective.

To you, maybe. To me, it's still way too much.

I've worked my whole life and everything I have
is due to the hard work of my wife and I.

I'll always have a problem with my hard earned money being
given away to some shit fuck that doesn't want to work.

You're just a mean racist. Never mind that this is only the tip of the fraud iceberg.

I bet every single one of these fucking parasites voted in November. More than once, in all likelihood.

If you're going to post outrage pieces, at least focus on where the bulk of the outrageous behavior is, not on some outlier data, like the ten transactions that occurred at a liquor store ATM

Are you playing devils advocate because you're bored? Don't you think it's stupid that this can be done? I'm all for people who can't afford food, getting help so they can eat. I don't think their card given to them for food should be allowed to be used as a debit card so that they can get cash. It's just going to be abused that way. We can agree on that right?

I'm mocking the ridiculous angle the article takes on generating outrage. I would prefer an honest article focusing on the total amount of assistance rather than the couple of transactions which happened in a shady location.

Not all hunger is for food. You should know this.

Oh and two different deals here, one for food and another for cash assistance.
