FUCK YOU to my goddamn dorm building for the shit internet connection they gave us. They recently cut the speed to non-educational and non-school related sites. I can barely load up youtube, ign, myspace, or any of my other favorite places.

UGH this fucking blows.

God forbid you should get some schoolwork done. The tuition money from Mommy and Daddy being well spent? We can't have that.

Doesn't your college realize how important your Youtube and Myspace contributions are to the free world? This is a travesty! A gross injustice!

Start studying, ya lazy bastidge.

frankly its bullshit this is what the university gave the students to live in and now their saying on your free time your not allowed to access sites that don't relate to school.

i understand that bandwidth is expensive but still every hour of every day is not school related.

to three hole puncher its most likely not his tuition money that goes to his housing im sure that flea or fleas parents or whoever pays for it spends extra for housing and now he can even have some fun on his pleasure time

Question for Flea Man...

Which occupies more of your out-of-class time?

A) Schoolwork/Studying.

B) Non-schoolwork related intertubes indulgence.

How much money would you put on A), Teddy?

Hmm.... I graduated in 2003 ... I didn't have too much downtime to be able to peruse the internets for fun. My free time was spent studying or doing papers. I graduated with an A-, even while also working a full-time job.

My nephew is at RPI and he doesn't have time to play on the internet either. He's in a very competitive program & is also involved in Air Force ROTC. Maybe you need to think about a different major Flea? One that will better occupy your time?

I'm just sayin' kiddo ...

Sounds to me like whomever is in charge of such a thing may just be a wackbagger and has cut your services in hopes of less frequent postings

After doing five years in the Navy, I went to college to get a degree... went to SUNY Albany and spent as little time on campus as was technically possibly. After five years in the military I was absolutely shocked by the lack discipline, responsibility, and even consciousness of the average college student. Maybe it's just a state school thing, but these lazy bastards barely got themselves to class, were completely unprepared when they did bother to make an appearance, acted as if they were doing the professor a favor by showing up, and behaved like they expected that a passing grade was included in the price of tuition. I learned to enroll in the earliest morning classes I could get because they usually ended up being private tutoring sessions with the professor... what with all the no-shows who couldn't get their drunk asses out of bed.

I wanted to shake these dumb ass kids... "You're fucking paying for this, you idiots! Or at least your mommy and daddies are... who the fuck do you think you're getting over on by slacking your work or blowing it off completely?"

I was shocked to learn that the average "full time" student actually spent about 4 hours per day in an actual classroom... and some of them had entire days of the week where they had no class at all! In the military, our training schools were 9+ hours per day, 5, and even 6, days per week!

If your average college student cut out just half of they're dicking around, they could easily earn a four year degree in two years. It took me three years, and I had a thirty-hour-a-week job to boot!

Hey... I see Flea Man spent a whole year at SUNY Plattsburgh. It took my little brother three years to drink himself out of that wretched hive of scum and villainy.

They're just conditioning you to life in a cube.
Actually... Flea Man's majoring in Communication Arts... which means he's being conditioned for a life of fetching coffee, bagels, and FROOOOOIT!

My other nephew was just accepted there. Said the communications program is better than the one at whatever other state school he looked at. Unlike his older brother, I see him partying more than studying. Especially with the legal drinking age being 18 in Montreal.

Flea, just an idea for you to consider, if you know anybody who works for a radio show, they often take on interns for a semester or two. These places have lots of computers with access to the web. Requirements to be an intern are almost non existent, all really need is a pulse.

Yeah, if it were me, I'd definately VPN into my office where I have oodles of bandwidth to surf wherever I pleased. Hmmm, I could connect to my ASA right now and create a VPN group for flea_man to use for his porno surfing too. He'd always have high speed access and multi-source failover to use whenever...

On second thought, Nah.

Bandwidth costs money fleaman. Your college is sick of spending all that money on internet pipes just so you can keep your facebook profile full of red-lipped pictures of yourself.

You want to do facebook or youtube? Get a job at wal-mart and rent a place to live and scrounge together $34.95 a month for A decent DSL connection. If you wish to benifit whatsoever from your college experience, I suggest a different approach. Pay attention in class and use your computer for homework. You'll be the happier man for it later on in life believe me. As Ronnie says, this is a shoot, from me to you. Myspace,Facebook,Youtube,Wackbag, et al are not going to help you cobble together the credits you need to get your degree and that's what's most important right now. This shithole will still be here during your breaks and in the summer. Good luck in school Matt. Check in from time to time.

Well a couple quick things. Yes, I go to class 4 days a week. I also have two jobs to buy my food and whatever else I need (yes mom and dad pay for housing and tuition whats the point). I'm busy pretty much all day and when I come back to my dorm room I want to relax and enjoy myself and check out places I normally visit. I'm sure I can be doing other more productive activities like going back to the gym or reading. It's just a nuisance that one of my activities in my free time has now been bastardized for the sake of saving a little bit amount of money.
