Fuck you to my customer Paul V.

You CUNT!

I spent months working on your designs. Revision after revision, countless late nights of my running home choking down dinner in 10 minutes to rush back to work and listen to your indecisive cunt of a wife. You roped me along for weeks saying you were ready to sign and give me a check so I complied with allowing you to take my contracts home along with designs to review. Finally tonight you were scheduled to come in and give me a check and you call now to say due to the recent mortgage market downfall you have to put the kitchen off till next year!!!!!

Just be honest and tell me I did all the work spelling out the kitchen of your dreams in writing so you can shop all over the place.

FUCK YOU MOTHER FUCKER!

A 56k sale blown!

God damn I so want to move away and do something else Right now!

FUCKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK

No deposit? No down payment? You did months worth of work without collecting a cent up front?

When did you plan on getting paid? When the job was finished? Dude... that's a sucker's game.

Maybe you should start working for money rather than 'appreciation'.

Man the guys replacing my fence wouldnt start until they got half up front and its a $1100 job TOTAL. Kinda sounds like you should be mad at yourself for putting yourself in that position.

You both are reading into this wrong.

No work was ever started other than me pricing out the job and writing up the contracts.

I NEVER order anything without 30% down.

My entire point was I priced the job, gave them the contracts to review (which other customers have requested) under the false pretense that they were ready to sign and give me the 30%. Now they have everything spelled out for them to price specifics and negotiate elsewhere.

Should I have gotten more than just a $200.00 survey fee before letting them have the contracts to take home with them? Sure, but people aren't going to hand over $16k without anything signed. I'm going to start requiring a $1500-2000 retainer to release contracts for review.

I'll tell yawhatI do,,, this has been done to me many times.

I use a baseline price guide.... basic fixture prices....if they dont wince at that price your usualy in... then any extra bullshit they want to get , I use a document called a change order.

upgrades n stuff.... its legal, and it works.

this way you dont waste your time with ned nitpickers till you getthe deposit.

these people here don't understand how much work listening to a silly boredcunt with a powertrip is like.

just tell em its going to be around 40,000.00 if they say ok, say ok, if you areseriouse lets write something up.... baseline... anything of above contractual agreement.. change order,.

sooooooooo, they either decided they couldn't afford it or you were too expensive. hmmmmmm. welcome to the wonderful world of business my friend. That shit happens all the time. and trust me, if they are shopping around you don't want them anyway. they are looking for a cadillac on a yugo budget. be happy that these cheap fucks are going somewhere else. you would have lost more sleep if you had gotten the job than you will that you didn't get it.

ha! ha! that sir is why i no longer give "free" estimates, ive had so many people fuck me on estimates that now right up front if they want anything more than a ball park verbal i tell them up front our administrative fee is 35$hr, that if they have the work done at my shop the money will be applied to there deductible or will be subtracted from the final bill, unless i have to go on a "parts hunt" or extensive ordering of parts. another thing i love to do is insist that they supply the estimate that was written buy there insurance company, that catches a lot of assholes that want to price shop. another thing that kills me is my boss refuses to have a computer in the office so all my estimates are hand written (fucking dick bag, but thats another thread) ive also gotten into the habit of chasing away some of the old-rusted-shitbox-i watch too much discovery channel, i want to restore my car in 3 weeks assholes. i tell them 5k up front then after thats burned up i charge 50$hr for "normal" body work and paint work and 90$hr for custom fabrication, and ANY thing that breaks or has to be destroyed to fix something else is there responsibility, + materials, people seem to love to over look the fact that something as simple as caulk cost 30$ a tube

What does the mortgage downfall have to do with anything?

Look at the bright side, now you have a true-life case to provide justification for the retainer fees. Just lay it out to future customers, you put 100+ hours of time into the design and everything only to get fucked in the end.

Now, you get to be "unavailable" when he starts calling you with questions, which he will end up doing.
