I haven't been a fan of the sensationalist media, but I have finally seen firsthand how bad it really is. For anyone in Central Florida, there's a story about a missing female that the police are searching for. The twist on the story is that she appeared on "People's Court" yesterday and squared off against her ex-boyfriend over an engagement ring. The two people are also parents of twins together. Anyway she went missing sometime last night, and the media has painted the ex as being a "violent, angry person" and the likely suspect of the disappearance. Here's the thing. I know the guy involved in the story, we've been friends for 5+ years. He was at home all afternoon yesterday, in fact, he and her watched the People's Court episode together before she dropped the kids off and left for work. He was talking to me on Facebook when she came up missing. If you believe what you hear in the media reports, she's already been buried and he spent the last 24 hours cleaning the blood off the saw and shovel. Nothing could be further from the truth. He's freaking out that she's missing too. Police have already questioned and searched his house and left him alone, but the media doesn't seem to mention that. My personal theory is that she was either embarrassed seeing herself on TV and needed to go somewhere to be alone, or some creep saw her on the show, recognized her and abducted her. They found her car and have the location where her cell phone was turned off triangulated but no other evidence. So fuck you, Media, for having to turn every story into sensationalist bullshit and not doing your due diligence of just getting the word out about this missing woman. And everyone, please think good thoughts that she finds her way home to her twins safely and quickly.
