It's been a week since my package has been shipped and not one update. Not even an acknowledgement of receipt of the package. And yes, the tracking number is correct, I talked to the sender and he confirmed the number.

Was it FedEx smart post... basically they ship it to your local post office... and I have had the tracking number not work on the USPS site but work on FedEx site.

yup.....USPS tracking is a joke. it'll only tell you 3 things: your shipping info has been received, your package is in transit, and it has been delivered......that's it.

I've got many package from eBay at my home before the 1st update. You get info received then delivered day after you get it.

I just got a package. No news after it arrived from China
into NYC. I get home and there's an attempted delivery slip.
I pick up the package at lunch today and an hour later I got
3 emails updating it's position thru Philly to my house and
then a confirmation it was picked up at the post office.

Yup, USPS tracking is pretty much only good for determining if something you sent was delivered. FedEx tracking (as long as they don't dump the package onto USPS at some point) seems to be the best.

i used the usps site recently to track a package i sent. worked fine for me, with about a dozen location updates.

the only problem was that the package kept bouncy back and forth between 2 sorting centers, but that's a different topic.

The post office doesn't offer tracking, the only thing they offer is delivery confirmation.

It also costs about 1/10'th of what it would cost to get a package sent UPS/Fedex so stop bitching.

Check out packagetrackr.com, it might be better... especially when it comes to tracking multiple shipments. The only thing it lacks is an Android app.
i use Package Tracker Pro on my android devices.....it fucking rules. i forgot the cost of the app but i can tell you from personal experience that it is worth the asking price.
