just heard the "discussion" about Foundry
have to admit, got a weird feeling in my gut
are they trying to push Steve's buttons
or is there an underlying thing here ?
seemed to come out of nowhere
hope there's no real conflict goin' on there

It hasn't "come out of no where" They've discussed several times with Steve that the Foundry Logo was fucking up videos and getting in the way of the actual video. It has actually gotten smaller and out of the way compared to the old days where it took up like 1/6th of the video.

On one hand, I can see Steve's point.. but on the other, his defiance annoys me. I can understand watermarking O&A videos, but anything else is stupid, becuase chances are, you will see it somewhere else that you go to anyways for videos, like break or youtube

they've been bitching about it for years, nothing new. And it gets the new listeners up to date on how steve is a foundry whore.

Am I the only one that doesn't see a problem with his logo on the videos? He hosts them, he should get his name on them as well as O&A's.

i dont really see why everyone had such a problem with the boys talking to steve about the situation today. maybe it's because i became a listener when they were solely on xm, but i love when they have conversations like that. its like you're the only person listening to the show. i dont know. just dont see why there were all the complaints. we all feel the same way. or should. its obnoxious.

I see the whole Foundry site as a hindrance to progress of O&A. They need to get their own site with no tie ins to anybody, either get Steve to run it or hire a webmaster if he doesn't want to, and cut off Foundry. Nothing personal, it's business.

I won't go to Foundry to look for anything. I always try to find it somewhere else, or look for a link where someone else already found it. So what if you have 8 years invested, if the site sucks, you made a bad investment.

And that was a long uncomfortable 31 minute grilling today.

one thing I laff at is people that bitch about finding shit on foundry. It's easy, it may not be efficient, but it is simple to find things. If you can find porn easily, you should have no problem on foundry

Anything O&A related (meaning in studio, public appearances, walkovers, etc.) should not have anything Foundry on them. They should all be O&A watermarked and hosted on opieandanthony.com.

I could give a shit what he does with the other videos....

I agree, mostly because if they did they might actually be able to plug their website on the terrestrial radio side. Sure it's easy to find even though they can't say what the specific link is, but people are generally pretty lazy and pretty stupid.

With a national show like O&A, there's no excuse for not being able to give fans a direct link to the site. If it means that Steve can no longer link to videos of stripteasing camwhores with fake tits, then so be it. The b-b-boys could be doing more on the intarweb to promote the show.

This really is the easy and most effective answer.

This is at the bottom of the opieandanthony.com page:

Hosted by FoundryMusic.Com

In other words, O&A's site is a part of that which is Foundry. Foundry has a link on the front page to O&A's site, but there are links to other non-O&A stuff. Click on any of the links on O&A's site and it brings you to Foundry, but only to the O&A page. With the Foundry watermark on the material, the premise is that Foundry will get more traffic which generates more $$. You go to Foundry for an O&A thing and see something else that strikes your fancy. Go to O&A and all you'll see is O&A related stuff.

He's not making money off the site & it costs $$ to run. So if he's going to generate more by having Foundry's watermark on O&A's stuff then so be it; I don't see the problem other than his making the watermarks a little (a lot) smaller from here on out. To expect him to go back over 8 years of material and resize the watermark is crazy.

i understand steves point that he hots them and all that, but if o and a want to do things right, i think they need to do videos and such on their own so its o and a solely being promoted.

and maz, i've come across your posts
the past couple days
and they read like haikus.

Why can't CBS and/or XM set O&A up with their own server and webmaster and cut Foundry out completely?

I dont understand why such a big show needs a 'friend' to host it.

Basically out of force of habit. Steve's hosted their web stuff since it was just a fan-run unofficial website, and Steve didn't offically work for the show. It also works out better this way, since the CBS/XM lawyers don't have any input into what Steve puts up on the site.

yeah it seems like this was the original setup and agreement with steve, and they never bothered to change anything even as the show grew, and as hosting videos on websites became more common
