TV Gaimen's American Gods: Season 2 on Starz

Finally watched the premiere last night. Holy shit. Some of the most provocative and visceral TV I've seen in a while. Really well made.

Laura Moon is being judged by an Egyptian god ... is it because she worked in an Egyptian themed Casino?

Sweet sassy molassey, that Mexican Jesus thing was silly.

Pretty much the entire Episode wasn't in the book. What we can glean from this episode, the Show Runner thinks gangs of rednecks in pickup trucks murder women and children crossing the border, (has never happened) same rednecks love guns and love running around displaying them. Any Hollywood production is going be "Immigrants good" "Trump baaaad" for the next four years.

So I was just watching this new episode, thinking I saw this before. Only just now I realized the entire episode was directly lifted, and very well too, from the novel. Very nicely done.

Sweeney seems a little more compassionate here (guilt-stricken, as we learn). I kinda wonder if they will let him encounter the same fate as written.

BTW, the actress who plays the Irish Grandmother, and the Grandaughter grown, is Data's "mother" from that episode of Star Trek TNG. Also a IRA supporter in years past.

I remember her as Aunt Molly in the TV series "How The West Was One". She was quite a Milf and a Gilf in the 80's.

I'm waiting patiently for the next episode and notice there wasn't an new one this week. Look online and they say the Jesus Tea Party Episode was the season Finale.

It was? Well that was weak then... Not that it wasn't good, but it did sort of end on a bit of a nothing, didn't it? I assume it's multi-season.

It is a quality production, maybe they figure that over quantity? It was a climatic end with the big reveal to Shadow about his real identity.

Yeah, saw it was the season finale the week after that episode when I went looking for it.

They really did leave us wanting more.

Having a backstory episode as the 2nd to last episode was certainly odd and a bit anti-climatic. That's my only complaint.

This last episode was a lot of virtue signalling. They took my favorite character and made him say "white man bad" over and over.

Would you like it if the character was made to say something else?

Like "orange man bad" over and over? ;)

I'd prefer the trickset deity to be a trickster deity, not a Black Lives Matter bullhorn.

Jones has had his speeches before in the show, but this was a distractingly long digression that drew things to a screeching halt. Hey, I get they are stretching, but the one book won't go five seasons.

The other one was understandable, in that it was the telling of how he came to America.

And Orlando Jones has gone full pimp-talk.

His performance has lost all depth here. Thoth too. Plus, isn't Bilquis supposed to be dead by now? If you're gonna diverge from that, give us a good reason why.

They're going to try to stretch a 2-3 season novel into 4. But I predict an immense drop in viewers.
