Didn't really want to put this in the thread over in Movies and TV, as that seems to be more a "fan" thread. Feel free to move it though...

WTF HBO? "whaa"

Fury as HBO's Game of Thrones shows President George W. Bush's decapitated head impaled on a STAKE

Politicians are calling for a boycott of HBO's fantasy series Game of Thrones after the creator's 'despicable' decision to include former President George W. Bush's severed head in several scenes.

In the tenth episode of the first season, Mr Bush's decapitated head is seen impaled on a wooden spike, covered in filthy long hair and slathered in dirt.

Show creators David Benioff and D.B. Weiss, who noted the appearance in the series' DVD commentary, insist it wasn't a political statement - just a prop.

But the image has provoked outrage among some Republican politicians.

Spiked: Former U.S. President George W. Bush makes a surprise appearance on HBO's fantasy series Game of Thrones, or at least, part of him does

The finale of the first season of Game of Thrones, Fire and Blood, one of the series' beloved characters Ned Stark is beheaded by new king Jeoffrey for treason.

In one brutal scene, King Jeoffrey brings his bride-to-be to gaze upon the severed head of her father.

Sansa Stark refuses at first, but then looks up to see not only her father, but also George W. Bush.

The surprise sighting went largely noticed until a user on Reddit pointed out the presidential prop.

When the show's creators revisit the scene in the DVD commentary, they make sure viewers notice the former Head of State.

'It's not a choice. It's not a political statement. It's just.. we had to use what heads we had lying around.'

'People may not have noticed this but back up...the last head on the left is George Bush,' one says.

'George Bush's head appears in a couple of beheading scenes,' the other adds.

David Benioff and D.B. Weiss say it was no condemnation of Mr Bush and his policies.

'It's not a choice. It's not a political statement,' one says. 'It's just.. we had to use what heads we had lying around.'

HBO declined the MailOnline's request for comment, but Craig Eaton, chairman of the Brooklyn Republican Party, was disgusted by the former president's 'appearance' on the show.

'I think that it's despicable. As a country, Democrats, Republicans, we have to have respect for the office and the individuals,' Mr Eaton said to the MailOnline. 'Once we lose that respect, the United States looks weak.'

He continued: 'Think about what people outside the country think when they see how Americans are disparaging their own former presidents.'

Outrage: Brooklyn Republican Party Chairman Craig Eaton is calling for a boycott of the show

Mr Eaton said that he's not familiar with the show, but that he doesn't have plans to tune in any time soon.

'Americans of all political persuasions should stand up and demand that things like this should not continue. They should boycott watching this particular show.'

Chairman of the Brooklyn Republican Party, Craig Eaton

'Whether you like him or dislike him, whether you're of the same political persuasion or not, we still have to respect the office of the presidency and all of those who hold that presidency,' Mr Eaton said.

He said that even he would never condone President Barack Obama's head being impaled for a television show.

'Americans of all political persuasions should stand up and demand that things like this should not continue,' Mr Eaton said. 'They should boycott watching this particular show.'

When told that the creators of the show didn't mean to make a political statement, Mr Eaton said they should still be ashamed. ''It doesn't matter what their intent is,' he said.

'They didn't intend it to be political, but now that it is, they should remove it.'

Watch for George W. Bush after the one-minute mark:

If it took over a year for people to comment on it, then it's much ado about nothing.

And is Craig Eaton a politician? Since he seems to be the only one who cares.

What I mean is- Game of Thrones hates America. Obama propaganda. Socialism.

The DVD's only been out a couple of months. I can't believe they admitted to it, unless they're just trolling to pump up sales.

Considering how popular the show is and how eagle eyed political obsessives on both sides are, someone would have brought it up by now if it was recognizable as Bush. That it had to be said on the commentary, and even then take a few months for someone to care...

Considering how much this show cost, I wouldn't be surprised if they just had that prop to work with and improvised. Maybe they should have hidden it a bit better, though.

If anything, I'd say Game of Thrones is a very sober political story, not one to make such displays of political hackery.

This is a perfect example of why I rarely delve into the personal beliefs of authors, actors, or any popular figure I like. After being annoyed by this:

I inquired enough to find out that Martin is a off the map lefty douchebag. Didn't look into it anymore because I can give a fuck less about anything he does besides finish the series before he dies.

Why would they have a George Bush head just lying around, anyway? They're idiots to admit it. No one would have ever noticed that.

Ser Dontos' family crest is described in the book and that's pretty much it (colors are slightly off). If anything, I'd blame the prop maker for this image.

Martin is a left-wing nutjob, the head does look like Bush, and the colors are off just enough to be the same colors on the flag. I would bet money that we see more of this shit in the series as it progresses. Doesn't change my view of the show, just makes me cringe at the douchebags thinking "Were going to make a statement!".

If they're trying to make a statement, it's not working. People watch for the midget, tits and violence. Not much else.

You're insane. This isn't some Rome ripoff. They come from a critically acclaimed book series.

The people on Reddit brought up when Louis C.K. talked about the homeless beheading episode how expensive they were. Never would have thought they were more expensive than a new Kia. The first season obviously had probably a much lower budget than the first.

Louis C.K. said:
You know, they told me it was $17,000 to get a good head. So I said, “Well, let’s beat that.” And we went around it. It’s a competitive business. We found a $4,000 good head.

I watch the show. I know where it comes from. It's not as deep as some people think it is.

I also buy the expensive head explanation. If there was some major statement, they'd have been more obvious about it.

Good to see the Republicans are still focusing on the important issues.

All politicians are crybaby faggots

But I'll tell you what, if this was Barry's head on a pike in a TV show with dragons in it, the Dems and the Ns would all be screaming like little girls with skinned knees

If it were Barry's head on a pike, the show would be canceled already and everyone who has ever worked on set investigated by DOJ.
