The front runners:
Rob Portman (Sen, Ohio)
Sen. Marco Rubio
I don't think Christie would fit on the Iron Throne.
Seriously, though - Rubio. He's Cuban. He's young but he has experience. He's popular. He has a bright future in the party but he was too young to run this time around. I think it would be a pretty good choice.
He's also from Florida, which could turn away independents.
A lot of buzz on portman. Here is Major Garrett's take:
I want it to be the governor of Puerto Rico, if for no other reason than to mess with the public
Oh and a citizen of Puerto Rico is Constitutionally eligible to be POTUS, just can't vote for POTUS
I also think it would guarantee Romney a win in PA, NJ, & NY - the Puerto Ricans in those states can vote and they would love a Puerto Rican in the White House
Okay, That's amusing.
I'm hoping for Rubio, myself. He's young, charismatic, and speaks with no Puerto Rican dialect. :icon_cool
I think Romney might prefer another Governor though. In fact, Hannity asked him about it once, and he responded that he would give serious consideration to another Governor. Might be Christie, might be a guy like Daniels or Jindal.
Outside of that, I don't know much about Portman. Paul Ryan is another possibility.
Could he go with a woman? What about Nikki Haley? She's Indian. She's popular. She's a governor. And she's kinda hot.
bring back palin!
It's definitely gonna be Rubio. America just loves white-Hispanics from Florida...:icon_cool
Hahaha. Well played.
Major Garrett has put entirely too much thought into this.
Well, he's a political analyst...so it's kind of his job to put too much thought into it.
