I'm in the market for a decent video camera for the creation of a news show on the youtubes. I need something not completely awful to trash the media in an attempt at youtube fame and glory.
I've been browsing amazon and see a lot of options in the 150-200 range but I know dick all about cameras other than I can make a lot of money filming dick on dick porn.

Check out the Kodak Zx3.

It usually costs around $100 and is small enough to fit into your pocket, waterproof up to 10ft and, shoots in 1080p. It has a mini HDMI out, supports a 32GB SD

As long as you don't need to zoom in too far this thing is fantastic. .

EDIT

The ZX3 is the model that I have, the ZX5 is the 2nd generation.

My brother has a Kodak Zx3 and they are awesome...they have great image stabilization. Be sure whatever you get has that or you will need a tripod for every shot. I am sure the latest gen of Zx is just as good. I had a FlipHD I used before my 720p Ipod touch...and the Zx3 blew that away. Check on battery life as well...

You need to think bigger. If you have more credit than cash, find a Video equipment rental place and rent low end Pro video camera.

i'm thinking quite largely in terms of production value. i'd rather own something decent and then beg on kickstarter for dummies to give me money, like that femicunt. but that's later down the road.

Do you intend to do green screen effects? If so, what are you going to use to edit? I've been curious as hell about doing something like this myself but have zero idea how to begin. I have a decent JVC HDD camcorder that I can use, but not sure how to do effects & shit.

A decent Mac with Final Cut Pro seems to be the standard for video editing. JoeyDVDZ. There are a ton of How-To videos on stuff like Chroma Key (Green Screen) and other effects on youtube. There are also a few videos on how to open a safe.
