Goodfellas question (Tommy gets whacked)

#1
So I'm watching Goodfellas for the third time this week (on free TV no less) and one scene always puzzles me:

What does Tommy see in the room that causes him to squeak "oh no" before he's whacked? How does he know he's fucked? Is there something (or someone) he expected to see? It looked like a normal enough room.

Gotta run. The "Howie-copter" scene is on!

I don't remember a tarp. It's just a tile floor for easy clean up.

The tarp was from lethal weapon. The one with the south africans. he was expecting more than an empty room. even shot him in the face so his ma couldn't have an open casket.

There was no tarp. It was just two large sections of carpeting. The fact that there were no other people in the room made him realize he was going to die.

I forgot, was he in the back or the front seat? Why wouldnt they just do it in the car.....

The Next scene with Deniro is one of the best

He was stupid. I was lucky. I will visit him soon.

On a side note, I too thought there was a tarp. How did we all think that? Was that from another movie?

Yeah, empty room. No tarp.

By the way. The movie has been out for 17 years now, I don't think the spoiler tag is necessary.

whacking him in the car is too public, too messy. at least in the room they could dispose of him.

yeah deniro whimpering, like a helpless little boy...then toppling the phone booth. classic stuff.

The more I watch this film, the more brilliant I think it is. Still a fucking crime that "Dances with Wolves" won Best Pic/Director for this over Scorsese. Even more amazing is that unlike Godfather which was based on one of the best American novels ever, Scorsese made a brilliant film off a rather mediocre book.

Can you fucking believe it, in this day and age the Academy is prejudice against Italians.

Yeah, really... the movies been out since 1990 or something. I'm pretty sure we've all seen it by this point. Then again, it was awful considerate of you nonetheless.

By the way, I've never really liked Goodfellas. I hate movies that have to give you someone's life story - it never seems to end, always seems to have glaring dull portions. That's just me though, I know most people love this film.
