Happy 30th Anniversary to the Hacienda

(old/rare-ish videos at the link)

Thirty years ago tonight, The Haçienda — the famed Manchester nightclub opened by Factory Records, New Order and Tony Wilson — opened its doors to the public, helping mix dance and rock and ushering in the Madchester era of the late ’80s and early ’90s.

The club is long gone, torn down and replaced by an apartment complex, but we can celebrate by looking back at the iconic bands that played there. Below, you’ll find clips of New Order’s various performances over there years, plus full sets by The Smiths, The Chameleons and, perhaps most interestingly, The Stone Roses, captured in 1985 performing a very pre-The Stone Roses set.
