Is it just me or is "intense" Ryan Reynolds in movies look like a parody of an actor being "intense"?

I hope we don't see him with the same, doughy, puppy eyes that I saw in every single advert and trailer for Green Lantern (which I never bothered seeing).

UGH!!!
and If they cast him as the lead in the Bladerunner reboot, I'm going to Hollywood and taking a dump on the studio head's desk!

THE ARISTOCRATS!

I've liked some of his movies, but I don't see him in neither this nor Bladerunner. I didn't see Green Lantern as I heard too many bad things but I loved his "zany" comedy days. He's got good comedic timing but I'm not sure he's leading man material in action-adventure movies.

I still enjoy the original movie but it doesn't hold up. However, the Reynolds casting makes me think this will suck. I don't have anything against him, really. It just doesn't feel right and makes me think it'll go a twilighty direction.

I actually think Reynolds is somewhat talented. They're not amazing movies, but I think he showed a little range in movies like Smoking Aces, Safe House, and Buried.

I don't hate Ryan Reynolds as actor. But he is the wrong choice for this movie.

Oh and first 5 seasons of Highlander: The Series are pretty good.

Please. They finally had the opportunity to cast an actual Scottish actor in the role, of which there are plenty, and they fuck it up once again.

Who's gonna fill Connery's shoes this time? Morgan Freeman? Jack Black?

They're ****** my childhood.

Yeah, why not Gerard Butler as Connor?

I have no problem with Ryan Reynolds in the role. Though you do make a good point with the Scottish thing.

What about Kevin McKidd? He's Scottish right? I'd put him above Butler.

There's also Tennant and McGregor if they wanted do go for the meeker immortal look.

Really? Granted he's been in some bad movies, but he seems more right for a role like that than Reynolds.

I prefer Reynolds as an actor to Butler. We also have to consider that we don't know the angle they're going to take for this incarnation of Highlander.

It's Hollywood, and they want name actors. Kevin hasn't really had much of an impact since Rome I believe. I enjoyed the first few episodes of his time traveling show, but it tanked. I would agree that I'd much rather see him than Reynolds though.

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. It could be quite different.

It's the same character name, and it's called Highlander. He's gonna be trying a Scottish accent.

I ask you to imagine how that will sound...imagine it.

I don't think I've heard Ryan Reynolds try an accent before and therefore have nothing to base my opinion on.

Also, he's an immortal. He could have very well lost his accent in the 50 years he's been alive.

In theory, yes. But neither Connor in the movies or Duncan on television show lost theirs. The character's identity is pretty much tied to his birthplace in Scotland.
