You may think you speak "Standard English straight out of the dictionary" but when you step away from the Great Lakes you get asked annoying questions like "Are you from Wisconsin?" or "Are you from Chicago?" Chances are you call carbonated drinks "pop."

What American accent do you have?

Your accent is as Philadelphian as a cheesesteak! If you're not from Philadelphia, then you're from someplace near there like south Jersey, Baltimore, or Wilmington. if you've ever journeyed to some far off place where people don't know that Philly has an accent, someone may have thought you talked a little weird even though they didn't have a clue what accent it was they heard.

Dead on the fuckin money.

How the fuck does bag ever rhyme with vague? Even if someone says it wrong before school, how is it not corrected later? Isn't the short a sound taught in every school? If someone says bag with a long a sound, wouldn't the teacher correct the shit out of them?

Born and spent first 18 years of my life in Georgia, I've done quite well in erasing that hick accent.

I lived in Wisconsin briefly, this is how they pronounce words that end in "-ag". Drove me nuts. I was in 4th and 5th grade, students and teachers spoke the same.

"You have a Midland accent" is just another way of saying "you don't have an accent." You probably are from the Midland (Pennsylvania, southern Ohio, southern Indiana, southern Illinois, and Missouri) but then for all we know you could be from Florida or Charleston or one of those big southern cities like Atlanta or Dallas. You have a good voice for TV and radio.

Lived in the south for more than half my life now. Glad it's not rubbing off on me. I do say "y'all" though.

I got Inland North followed By Philly. I am kinda okay with it...as Ne Pa has it's own accent and dialect that is a mish mash of different language and speech:
And yes, this video is a horrible video.

Not bad for Northeast Ohio, but they're a little off: people from Southern Ohio definitely have a Southern accent. Hell, it touches Kentucky.

It is soda though. Not pop. If I remember correctly the "pop" barrier is around Rochester going west.

So what words that I pronounce differently are supposed to be pronounced the same? The fuck is this shit? I suppose it makes sense, I was born in Chicago and live in Buffalo, which is more Inland than North East.

Maybe it's because I put the "whore" in "horrible"? I'd be curious to hear what how some of you "No accent" folks answered. I don't want to have an accent. :(

Judging by how you talk you are probably from north Jersey, New York City, Connecticut or Rhode Island. Chances are, if you are from New York City (and not those other places) people would probably be able to tell if they actually heard you speak.
