AROD meeting with the Mets.... http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2007/writers/jon_heyman/11/05/gm.meetings.mon.night/ What do you think of this idea : AROD wants $30 million a year..but is a value at $15 million, no? I mean the Yankees were paying him that practically (with Texas paying $7 million). If that's the case, what if the mets started a "Die Hard Fan" Club. There has to be 3 million Met fans around the country that would want AROD right? What if we can get 10% of them (300,000) or 5% of them (150,000) to purchase a "ultra fan club registration" of $100 each (x150k) or $50 each (x300k)? That fan club cost would get you a "special edition" AROD, hat, jersey, etc, a password to a special Mets site, perhaps to get SNY "Sportsnite" downloads for free for ipod or something, 4 pairs of tickets to games (crappy seats, upper decks for pirates, nationals, etc). We could use that money to pay for the $15 million or so for AROD and the Mets can pay the remaining $15 million or so . Thoughts? I would sign up for that to bring AROD to Shea / Citi Field.
