1985 Ford F150 Explorer shortbed, 302FI. First year for the FI, Explorers were only made a couple months a year, and has tilt, cruise, od trans, interval wipers. Not many made with those options. It's a driver, not a museum piece, I need a truck sometimes. My 3rd 80's Ford.

Old Ford was good Ford. Anything after mid-90's, not so much. I had an 84 E-150 Econoline van with the back bench seat that folded out to a bed, swivel captain's seats, fold out table, little curtains on the windows, back shelf for the TV which I had installed... rolling fuckmobile. I actually lived in that van for a few months, was very comfortable.

You could work on that thing without ever jacking it up or moving a thing out of the way. Amazing van, until I blew the tranny. :( Yeah, I know, blew a tranny, let the jokes commence.

My dad bought a 73 Ford truck brand new. In less than a year he was riveting sheet metal to the rusted floorboards.

its not just the salt, the fucking gasket traps moisture and dirt from draining through the door, a lot of times gravel will get caught between the gasket and the door and rub the paint just enough to cause a little bit of rust, ive seen 06's (from up here in the salt) that were rotted completely through to the out side skin, its not just the fords that are rusting along the skin to frame, a lot of cars are doing it now, apparently the glue they are using is not sealing them properly or it is affecting the e coating, i would look if i were you, hell just to prove me wrong ;)

those fords love to rust on the back sides of the front fenders at the bottom, along the front were the molding meets the fender in front of the tire, and the drivers side foot well next to the a pillar below the e brake peddle. the older fords loved to rot out were the cab mounts met the frame. ive put a MILE of mig wire in old trucks

I have never seen Dunlop GT qualifiers that didn't separate while driving on them

I bought some and ignored the warning

all four of mine did it but this was back in the early 80's

sure they are all better by now
