I don't know WHY I'm posting this on an O&A message board, I know I'm gonna regret it, and I know 99.9% of the replys aren't gonna be serious, but oh well, I just need to vent a little.

I posted this on my Myspace blog http://www.myspace.com/zeldafreak and I said it was about my friend, but it's actually about me. It' the newest blog I have up there. Here's what I posted:

I have this friend, who absolutely hates his job, and wants out really bad. He tells me that he kinda has a feeling that certian people are acting like his friend, while behind the scenes, theyre trying to do an investigation to fire him or get him fired. He tells me he's willing to work, but while he's working, he's gonna look for a new job, because, once again, he hates his job. He knows there's at least a couple people in management that hate him, and he really wants nothing to do with them. He doesn't want them comming up to him to talk to him, he wants basically no contact with them. Obviously, he has to work with them, but he doesn't want any contact with them. I went into where he works a couple of times since he started there, and I've hung out with him and some of the people he works with, and they all seem friendly and cool, so, obviously, he's friends with most of the people he works with. It seems like it's just those two people in management, and whoever "the mole(s)" is/are who don't like him. He's been wanting out of his job for a long time, and now he's finally ready to get out.
Does anyone have any advice?

let's see how many people actually reply with serious advice....................

Did you do something that the "friends" can get you fired for? Sounds shitty, but if you can suck it up until you find another job I'd do that. If it's absolutely intolerable and you can float yourself until you find another source of income I'd quit now though.

If you are doing something that you can get fired for stop doing it. Play their game and like seeinred said, suck it up until you find another job.

I spent a year in a place that I absolutely hated. I dreaded each and every day going into work. Yet, if the psycho boss sensed that I was unhappy or even thinking about finding another job, would have been fired. I hung in there an faked it for a year, still did the best job I could and got the hell out of there asap.

I have this friend who thinks that you come across like a whiney girly man.

My friend said that dead-end retail sales jobs are a dime a dozen, and you should man up and just quit this one and get another one.

My friend also said that before you quit you should sabotage all of the forklifts, and ambush "the mole" in the parking lot some night and give him a brutal beat down.

That's what my friend thinks.

get used to it, most places you will ever work will have someone who doesn't like you. you won't like everyone you work with either, learn to ignore peoples attitudes or become self employed.

Get another job.

5 years ago I finally got a job that I had wanted for a long time. The company was good, the people were great and the job itself ruled. But unfortunately my boss was a fucking asshole racist that had it out for whitey. I tolerated it for 2 years and then I just couldn't take it anymore.

I went almost 6 months before I found another job (in a completely different field BTW) but now I'm as happy as a clam and never look back on that place. Although it was my "dream job", quitting there was the best decision I've ever made.

Rarely will you find a job where there isn't *something* sucky about it. It just depends on whether you can live with it. I couldn't live with the tremendous amount of OT (on salary) and shitty raise, so I left. The current job isn't the best, either, but it pays well and I have weekends & holidays off.

If you're that miserable, find another job. Go to a recruiter & ask them to help you out. If it's horrendously awful & you don't need benefits, sign up with a temp agency & give your two weeks notice.

I had to speak in the 3rd person, because late last year/early this year I started talking shit on my Myspace about one of the asistant managers that I know hates me, and he told HR. Thank God the HR manager at the time liked me. She (the HR manager) wound up getting fired a couple months ago.

Yeah, I E-Mailed the guy who got me this job and told him I'm miserable and want a new job. He hasn't got back to me yet. I'm gonna call him today or tomorrow.

You needed 'a guy' to get you a job at Home Depot? Like you needed a connection? Isn't HD one of those places where you just walk in and fill out an application?

Oh, I just remembered this...

This hospital where I used to work... this black lady comes into the hospital one day with her baby daddy to apply for some crappy unit clerk job. While she's in HR filling out an application, her baby daddy is waiting for her in the front lobby. I guess he got bored because he decided to steal the purse of a lady in the lobby. He grabs the purse and strolls out into the parking lot and stashes it in his car, then the ballsy fucker walks back into the lobby and sits right back down next to the lady whose purse he just swiped! His baby momma comes out later, and they leave.

The lady finally notices her purse is missing and she reports it to Security. Security reviews the security cam tapes, and bingo, they see the whole thing go down. They see him come in and leave with the lady who applied for the job, so they go to HR, get her address off the application, call the cops... who quickly send Clancy and the boys to surround the house. Sure enough, the cops are waiting when Baby Daddy rolls up to drop off Baby Momma, and they catch him red-handed with the purse in the car.

Story over, right?

Nope... the HR manager of the hospital (another female nagger) decides to give her Nubian sistah a chance, after all, she's a victim too. :icon_roll and they fucking hire her!

So two months go by, and suddenly the hospital starts experiencing a rash of reports of thefts of patient property. Where previously there were 4 reports per year, suddenly they're seeing 3 cases per week. The Security Dept. compares the dates, times, and places of the thefts to Baby Momma's work schedule, and guess what?

If you always do what you always did
You'll always get what you always got.

In other words, stop complaining and do something about your situation. Find another job - retailers are starting to hire and even though a lot of them are temp for the holidays, there are also jobs that are permanent and many that offer benefits if you need them.

Just heed the warning of everyone - no matter what job you take, there are always going to be people that don't like you and will try to make your life a living hell. It's like that in life - not everyone you meet is going to be your friend.

Put on your big boy panties and do something. Look in the newspaper, check Craig's List, go to a recruiter. If the one who got you the job isn't calling you back, call another one. The only one who can change your situation is you

Jim, I dont know what you do in your line of work. I know how hard it is to find another job. I would post my resume EVERYWHERE to get out of that situation. Do you work for men managers? The reason I am asking is because they sound like what bitchy women managers do. They pretend to be friendly; but all they are doing is sizing you up. If they are Men, then I have no comment... Life is way to short to be miserable in your job. For the time being, go to work, get a paycheck and dont really associate with other people. When you are ready to quit, give them a few days notice only. When you feel like the pressure is too much, then quit. Its always better to quit a job then to get fired. Good luck and keep us posted on your new job findings.

There's nothing worse than a ****** in HR. They'll fucking ruin whatever organization they work for. The shady and shiftless will be hired, promoted, and covered for while the competent and smart will get fed up and put in for a transfer or just leave the company altogether. Maddening.

To the OP: Quit fucking around and get another job. You're young, you'll survive.

Except, can't he collect unemployment if he's fired?
Not if he's fired "for cause", and any manager who has even half of his/her shit together can pull documentation for cause out of their asses... even if it's complete bullshit, it'll cover their asses with the labor board and the unemployment claim will be denied. Mind you... playing the race or sex card often works when pleading your case before the labor board, because, as we all know, the poor exploited minorities and downtrodden womenses can't be held accountable for their actions... being that all minorities and females are irresponsible children in the eyes of the bleeding hearts.

If you're a white male... don't even bother to appeal if your ex-employer contests your claim. You are a white man and therefore you are Satan himself.

Sounds like you work in retail.

Been there.. made a decent amount of money, ('Regional Staff') and finally got fired over a joke.

Friend of mine took my position. He & others still call me for advice. I left in April.

I've been fortunate enough to never have been fired from a job. Naively I thought that if you were fired you could collect, but again, that's rather naive. I think jimmyjimjimz once mentioned that he spoke with a stutter ... if he were to get fired, even "for cause", would he be able to try claiming it was actually as a result of the stutter that he was fired? Or would that be stretching the handicap card to its limit?

Well... unless he developed the stutter "on the job"...

I mean, if the company hired a stutterer in the first place, it'd be kinda hard to argue that they fired him because of the stutter.

It'd be like a retard claiming that Wal Mart fired him because he's a tard. It'd be a weak argument... being that there is an employed tard at the front door of just about every Wal Mart in the nation.

Guess he could always say the stress of the job made the stutter worse. Otherwise, he's plain screwed. Thanks for 'splainin it to me :action-sm
